America’s Best Bites Visits Dallas

In the wee hours last night we spoke to the associate producer for a new television program, America’s Best Bites, which will soon air across the country and in Dallas on KDAF CW 33. The half hour program will run in most major markets and combines two of our favorite things: food and travel.

The hosts, Ted Brunson and Natalie Forte, are on a mission each week to find affordable dishes and must-eat items across America, based primarily on viewer feedback from Facebook and Twitter. The new program is to be charged with a sense of humor and audience participation. Excellent tips from viewers will be rewarded with on-air cameos and other forms of incentives. Continue reading →

Coffee House Cafe is Steaming Hot

As we reported first on craveDFW the Coffee House Café is open after ironing out the first week’s kinks in staff, and the kitchen is humming along in full swing.

The restaurant that is located on the south west corner of Frankford and Preston and owned by first time restaurateur Carrie Kelleher fills a niche in the area that lacks a proper breakfast, brunch and lunch menu. Indeed, this is all the Coffee House is serving at the moment. Continue reading →

People’s Choice Breakfast: Smoke

With a clear, hands down victory we award this weeks People’s Choice Award for Breakfast to Smoke located at the Belmont Hotel in Oak Cliff.

The funky hotel located at the highest point in Dallas has come into its own with the guidance of chef Tim Byres, who over the past year has garnered top honors not just locally, but across the nation. For those visiting Smoke for any meal they will surely attest to his ingenuity in the kitchen, with certain kudos to the Smoke breakfast and brunch menu which features such luminous dishes as a bruleed grapefruit served with the hearty Gristmill Cheese Grits-Hominy Casserole, or the House Made Ricotta Cheese Pancakes that is heavy-laden with a satchel of blueberries. Off-Site Preps For Opening

With just a few weeks away from opening his latest concept, Off-Site Kitchen, Neighborhood Services chef/ owner Nick Badovinus has been busily prepping the borderline Design District restaurant at a steady pace.

People’s Choice Award: Breakfast

As the summer drones on in triple digits for the 23^rd day in a row, we continue our search for all the wonderful things Dallas-Fort Worth has to offer. The people have spoken about their favorite burgers and cocktails, now it is time for breakfast.

Breakfast is one of my absolute favorite meals of the day. There is nothing more satisfying than an egg (unless you add a burger or enchilada below the egg; my favorite self-saucing mechanics). Continue reading →
