Leela’s Wine Bar Transforms into a Holiday Pop-up Experience, “Holiday House”, Now Through January 1

Leela’s Wine Bar is transforming into a “Holiday House”, for their annual immersive holiday pop-up experience, now through January 1.

While all locations will have holiday house decor and cocktails, the recently reopened Greenville Ave location is the largest transformation at 1914 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75206.

The yearly collaboration with designer turned entrepreneur Karla Gallegos, founder of The Planting Hand, the popular holiday pop-up returns better than ever. After updates to the interior (also designed by Gallegos), Karla envisioned an “escape from the normal chaos the holidays bring!” She explains, “Expect a decked-out snowy winter vibe this year, perfect for a night celebrating connection with family and friends. Even though there are lots of places for the perfect holiday candid, this pop-up is designed to truly enhance an evening spending time with those you love.”

Cantina Laredo’s Tamale Class

by Ella Pritchard

When I went into Cantina Laredo, I kept seeing “Modern Mexican” everywhere, so when I interviewed Rambo Saucedo, the chef teaching the lesson in tamales, I asked what he thought that meant. He said it means that they keep the flavors of the past, the traditional dishes and add a little more. It was my first time at Cantina Laredo and I went to their tamale-making class, but after being there and interacting with the staff, I will be back.

Galleria Dallas completes country’s tallest indoor Christmas Tree

Starting Sunday, Galleria Dallas will begin the creation of what has become the most iconic holiday visual in the state of Texas: the construction of its 95-foot-tall Christmas tree, the tallest indoor holiday tree in the United States. This year, the tree is getting a facelift, with new branches, ornaments and transformative lighting that will show dazzling animations on the tree itself. Setup begins on Sunday, Nov. 5, for the massive evergreen, which has been a fixture at the shopping center for decades.

It takes a team of nearly 50 of Santa’s best elves five days to construct the tree. After the massive steel frame, which weighs five tons, goes up, teams will work to install 717 new branches, each of which is essentially a 3’ to 5’ tree. The new branches are fuller than the ones used in past years, and it took 14,000 shop hours to hand-sew twigs on them.

By Chad Pritchard

“You never know what’s going to happen with live theater” seemed to be the theme at the WaterTower Theater Saturday evening. During the fourth night of the run of “Chaplin the Musical,” which is based on Charlie Chaplin’s life, the show was paused for half an hour during the first act due to technical difficulties backstage, and then, a curtain mishap in the beginning fourth act hardly took away from the beautiful performances of the actors, in what could have been a disastrous night. The cast shined in the face of these difficulties, and one could hardly notice the mishaps as they performed brilliantly through them.
