The Clover Club Premiers June 14

Parliament Luckyby Steven Doyle

Dallas, prepare for a deal changing club and restaurant just days away from premiering on the Dallas scene. From the hearts and minds of restaurant owner and investor Brad  Woy and uber cocktalier and bar owner Eddie Campbell (also known as Lucky to fans) comes Clover Club which is a send-up of the original Bellevue-Stratford Hotel’s Clover Club from the late 1800’s Philadelphia social club which attracted movers and shakers of the day, including moneyed bankers and intellects of the time not too unlike the Midtown Manhattan Algonquin which also attracted a similar heady crowd. Al Biernat’s North Opens Oct 18

biernats

Legendary Dallas restaurateur Al Biernat has finally found a second site he deemed worthy of carrying his name.

Al Biernat’s North is only days away from opening its doors at 5251 Spring Valley Road, just east of the Dallas Tollway and north of the Galleria. The site, previously home to Del Frisco’s Steakhouse, has undergone $4 million in renovations to fulfill Biernat’s vision for the restaurant.

“I’ve wanted to open a second location for years, but I just needed to find the perfect space,” said Biernat. “When I heard this site was available, I knew we had to have it. It’s ideally situated to cater to our loyal clientele living in the northern suburbs, and it will give us a wonderful platform to serve a new group of guests that are not as familiar with our brand.” Continue reading

At Sēr Steak+Spirits The Friday Tasting Menu Is All Seafood — Sēriously!

logoby Andrew Chalk

Check out Sēr any Friday night and stand witness to execuchef Anthony Van Camp crafting himself a reputation as something of an enfant terrible. Having established Sēr as a serious contender among steakhouses in this carnivorous town, he has turned the six-course tasting menu ($90, or $135 with wine pairings) into a seafood lover’s dream. I was an invited guest at a recent media event. Check out the dishes we had in the pictures below.  Continue reading

Why You Should Order The Spinalis At SĒR Steak + Spirits

DSC05532by Steven Doyle

Last night I attended a little fete at one of my favorite steakhouses in Dallas, SĒR Steak + Spirits. If you read craveDFW very often you have seen our discussions on the type of beef (Wagyu) and the chef (the impressive young Anthony Van Camp). Sēr is tops our beef charts for a few reasons; the unpretentious wine list, the fantastic bar, and a breath-taking view of the city. Oh, then there is the food.

I suppose we should always keep our eye on the prize, and last night we blazed through a few incredible dishes, including some plump and briny Wellfleet’s and a beautiful charcuterie and cheese board. We also shared with our table an incredible plate of foie torchon. The torchon had a delightful cognac character that made the evening so very special and festive.  Continue reading
