Rathbun’s Blue Plate Transformed Into Private Venue

Today Kent Rathbun announced that the former Blue Plate Kitchen space has been reconcepted and transitioned into a private event venue. Called The Kitchen at 6130, the comfortably elegant setting is well-equipped to host both social and business outings, including holiday parties, corporate events and receptions. From fresh and flavorful food to stylish décor, The Kitchen at 6130 will handle all the details so guests can enjoy their events stress-free.

With a restaurant setting and full service bar, the versatile space can be customized to accommodate seated dinners, cocktail parties and intimate celebrations. Capacity in the 6,000 square foot venue ranges from 120 people seated to 165 standing, and the on-site catering team can provide a variety of food options, including passed hors d’oeuvres, food stations and sit-down service.    Continue reading

Taste of the NFL Ultimate Tailgate Party a Delicious Success

The Taste  of  the  NFL:  The  Ultimate  Dallas  Cowboys  Tailgate  Party has  provided more  than  two  million  meals  to  hungry  North  Texas  children  since  its  inception  in  2005,  by  raising  vital  funds  for the  North  Texas  Food  Bank’s  more  than  1,000  feeding  and  education  programs.  Every  $1  donated  provides  3 meals  for  hungry  North  Texas  children  and  100  percent  of  the  event  proceeds  help  distribute  food  through  the  Food  Bank’s  300  member  agencies  in 13 counties and through the Food 4 Kids backpacks,  Kids  Café,  and  School Pantry  programs.

Dallas Cowboys, past and present, Abacus chef and proprietor Kent  Rathbun, and more than a dozen of the area’s hottest celebrity chefs assembled Sunday evening to take part in  the 10th anniversary celebration benefiting NTFB  children’s feeding programs.    Continue reading

Reset at Jasper’s – Kent Rathbun Unveils New Menu

With five restaurants, a catering operation, a line of retail food products and nearly 400 employees you might think Kent Rathbun would be long retired to the corner office or the sinecure of a TV program. Not so, he is behind the stoves and facing the culinary questions that a rising Texas economy and a slew of new competitors poses.

Item one last week: unveil the reset the menu at the venerable Jasper’s. The decade-old restaurant that began as an early adopter of The Shops of Legacy (a venue that turned out to become the premier Plano restaurant location) and has expanded to take in north Houston (The Woodlands) and Austin. Further locations are planned so it has to go forward with a menu as attractive as the one it opened with ten years ago.   Continue reading

Battuto Celebrates One Year With Guest Chef Series

Throughout April, Battuto Italian Kitchen will be celebrating its one year anniversary with a series of guest chef dinners featuring some of Dallas’s most notable chefs, including Scott Romano, Andre Natera, Kent Rathbun and Richard Chamberlain. Scott Romano (Frisco Gun Club) is kicking things off on April 1st with three special courses.

Diners can opt for a three-course dinner or pick and choose ala carte dishes along with items from Battuto’s regular menu. Cost of the various chef dinners will vary.   Continue reading

“Seats For Soldiers” Tomorrow And You Can Help

American Airlines and the Dallas Mavericks are partnering for the ninth year to host “Seats for Soldiers,” a unique experience for our nation’s military heroes. This year, more than 100 wounded service members will travel from Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio to join reserve troops in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in attending the Dallas Mavericks vs. Milwaukee Bucks game on Dec. 14 at American Airlines Center.

Upon arrival at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, the group will enjoy dinner at Abacus prior to attending the Mavericks-Bucks game. Abacus owner and executive chef Kent Rathbun has developed a special menu featuring country ham wrapped jambalaya cakes with etouffee sauce, wood roasted Allen Brothers prime rib, smoked pecan-cranberry green beans, chocolate truffle cake, and malted milk chocolate ice cream.   Continue reading
