Texas Tailgate and Craft Roadshow

Join the North Texas Chapter of the United States Bartending Guild for an afternoon of barbecue and craft spirits this Sunday, July 7 in Trinity Groves from 1 to 5pm. A $10 donation will secure you four drink coupons and barbecue along with some amazing live music that benefits both the USBG and the North Texas Food Bank. Besides the cocktails you will also be able to sample plenty of craft spirits.

2013 DFW Restaurant Week Reservation Day Is July 15

It’s time for diners to prepare their palates for North Texas’ hottest summer food and wine event, the 16th annual DFW Restaurant Week presented by Central Market. Back with a new name and pricing options to spotlight the stellar lineup of participating restaurants throughout the Metroplex, DFW Restaurant Week will once again be supporting the North Texas Food Bank and Lena Pope Home.

The culinary festivities will kick-off with Reservation Day, July 15, when the much-anticipated list of this year’s participating restaurants and menus will be unveiled at their website, and diners will begin making reservations for the main week of Aug. 12-18.      Continue reading

Ultimate Dallas Cowboys Tailgate Party 2013 Benefits NTFB

Sunday night the Dallas Cowboys set themselves a target of raising $200,000 for the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB). An important goal, as the NTFB is $600,000 short of their annual target and the fiscal year ends in June. To get to the target, the Cowboys held the Ultimate Cowboys Tailgate Party.

At an event emceed by Dallas Cowboys DeMarcus Ware and Jason Hatcher alongside former players Preston Pearson, Chad Hennings and Daryl Johnston, guests got the chance to bid in a live auction for such things as wine country luxury getaways, chefs tasting meals for 10 at Abacus, lunch with “Christopher Ewing” (Jesse Metcalfe) and a pit pass and suite at three races at North Texas Motor Speedway. Supplementing the live auction was a silent auction with dozens of lots including Cowboys memorabilia, meals at local restaurants, wines and spirits.       Continue reading

2013 North Texas Food Bank Empty Bowl Event Scheduled

The North Texas Food Bank’s 14th annual “Empty Bowls” luncheon will be held at the elegant Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. Guests will enjoy soups, breads and desserts provided by several local restaurants and go home with a hand crafted bowl created by an area artisan.

Ticket prices are as follows: $35 in advance or $45 at the door. A limited number of VIP tickets are available for $100 and will allow guests early entry art 10:30 a.m. “No bowl” tickets are available for $25. Continue reading

Your Vote Can Feed 90,000 People

Liberty Mutual is running a little charitable contest which will benefit the North Texas Food Bank in a huge way. This is one of those Facebook contests where you vote and up until today our local food bank was in first place. Taste of NFL This Weekend

Former Dallas Cowboy Chad Hennings joins an all-star roster of hosts, including Chef Kent Rathbun of Abacus, Dallas Cowboy DeMarcus Ware #94, and Cowboys legend Preston Pearson for 2012’s Taste of the NFL: The Ultimate Cowboys Tailgate Party benefiting the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB).  Foodies and football fans alike will huddle up to take a bite out of childhood hunger at the eighth annual “party with a purpose,” aiming to raise its one-millionth dollar in 2012.  This year’s event (held in conjunction with Abacus and presented by Lockheed Martin) moves to the new Omni Hotel Dallas’ Trinity Ballroom, which will receive a gridiron makeover when the festivities touch down on Sunday, May 20, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.   Continue reading
