Ziziki’s Serving Romance Since 1994

Since 1994 Ziziki’s located on Travis has been a suitor for romantic evenings, fine wines and delicious Mediterranean food. It has been cause for affection on first dates then and continues its tradition with cozy tables set in dim lights and subtle service.

Plates filled with Greek favorites entice couples in a space carved out with soft, breezy music languidly filling the crisp Spring air on the patio. Lovely plates of artichoke hummus and a spicy hipiti entice. Panko crusted goat cheese disks lay smiles on faces seen from across its room. Keftedes, Greek lamb meatballs served with a plum tomato sauce, raise a symphony of tidings, and guests are pleased.   Continue reading →

After several visits to Peasant Pizzeria I now have a new favorite pie in Dallas.

And it is not just the pizza but most items found on the short menu including one of the daily specials. Consider Tuesday where they offer Fennel Crusted Sea Scallops or Thursday where you will find an enormous Veal Chop Milanese. Continue reading →

Musume Brings World Class Sushi to Dallas Arts District

Musumé opened in the Dallas’ Arts District late January, bringing sushi, Asian fusion and the largest  selection of sake in Texas.

Named for the Japanese word for “daughter,” Musumé comes from creator Josh Babb and partner Sean Clavir, whose Rock Libations restaurant group owns Shooters in Victory Park, Prohibition Chicken in Lewisville, and Chop Shop in Carrollton and Roanoke. Continue reading →

Relleno Night at Mia’s

Dallas has this rich Tex Mex history with various threads of families woven throughout a whole  host of restaurants, some dating back over 100 years. The Rodriguez family is certainly one of the most successful and include Mico Rodriguez’ ultra famous Micocina and more recently Mr Mesero and Mesero (although similar in name, both unique), and his mother’s very famous Mia’s on Lemmon to name a few. It was just a few years ago that hot dogs were quite the fashion plate, but competition was fierce and as fast as many arrived on the scene, all delicious and crave worthy, they vanished seemingly overnight. A fairly new doggery to the Dallas landscape that has been a proven concept for eight years which first opened in Pasadena made its entry this past year and has been building a strong following in Richardson. Smithy on Henderson Opens Tonight

The team behind The Woolworth open their newest concept Smithy at 2927 N Henderson Ave for dinner service tonight.

Smithy encourages guests to mingle, share, live and dine all while sharing in the experience of crafted, modern, but approachable food and drink.

Opened for dinner with lunch and brunch planned for the near future, Chef Ronald Von Hatten defines his offerings as shared plates, and unique eats. The menu flirts with global influences but ingredients you will know. Co-owner Brandon Luke says, “Influences such as Asian, French, Mexican and American will keep you guessing on what to order or share. Our menu keeps guest favorites but rotates seasonal items three times a year. Pazzo Bringing Joy To Uptown

The word for “crazy” in Italian is Pazzo and Pazzo in Uptown is now known for a bit of craziness. Late night people know Pazzo as a superb club, located in the back and occupies as much space as the front of the house. This is where you will find the ultra chic, renowned DJ’s and bottle service that packs the house many nights of the week.

The space up front, all unsuspecting of the craziness that goes on behind the hidden doors of the club is this elegant and lovely restaurant, decidedly American-Italian, that serves up insanely good food and cocktails.  Continue reading →

18th and Vine For KC BBQ Experience

It doesn’t seem all that long ago that 18th and Vine opened on Maple Avenue in an area that seems in constant state of construction across from the gowing old Parkland hospital (now a burgeoning office complex). This is just a few blocks from the Grapevine bar if that helps locate the restaurant on your mental map.

We visited 18th and Vine, operated by chef and restaurant power couple Scott and Gina Gottlich formerly of Bijoux and Second Floor fame. I adore this couple, not only for knowing how to run great restaurants, or the fury of talent (he a chef, she a sommelier), but for being a genuinely fantastic couple who also tend to their growing flock of a family.  Continue reading →
