NOLA’s Tennessee Williams Literary Festival

By James Casarez

craveDFW contributor Dorothy Hernandez, writer James Casarez, and Dallas Diva Farah Fleurima attended the Tennessee Williams New Orleans Literary Festival as part of their travels to the Big Easy. Here’s one of their dispatches:

An author as prolific as Tennessee Williams, who penned over 33 full-length plays and over 75 one-act and shorter plays, is bound to have an arsenal of hidden gems through his lesser-known works. The Tennessee Williams Literary Festival class “Hiding in Plain Sight” brought together a collection of scenes through staged readings of both his lesser-known works and more recognizable ones. Luminaries of the stage and page came together to breath life again into some of Williams’ most outstanding characters.     Continue reading

Hotter Than Hell Margarita Fest Success

One of the high points of the weekend certainly was the Hotter Than Hell Margarita challenge in Bishop Arts featuring  Sauza Tequila. Taking place at 6pm this past Sunday, the crowd quickly swelled to over 2,500 as ticket lines snaked down Seventh Street just off Bishop. Happy gatherers met with the promise of margaritas, and although the lines were a bit of a challenge, the crowd stayed quenched with the large variety of the tequila soaked cocktail flowed freely.   Continue reading

Celebrate Your Labor Day in Dallas

by Steven Doyle

Summer is coming to close, but you really wouldn’t notice by the temperatures outside. Perhaps the only indication that Fall is fast approaching are all the blinking school zone signs and talk of the Texas State Fair and all their fried offerings.
