Your Favorite Pizza?

A few nights ago I was at a party that included a more than a dozen chefs from Dallas as we gathered to celebrate a birthday. It was great affair and the beer and sangria were flowing at Cane Rosso. There were enough people at the party that the owner Jay Jerrier opened his doors on his night off.

Towards the end of the evening I sat with a few people including Jerrier and discussed pizza in Dallas. Jay gave me his list of favorites and some of the others made a short list. Everyone seemed to have their special pies for different reasons. We certainly have ours. Jay Jerrier owner of Cane Rosso just sent me a note letting craveDFW readers know that he is so smitten with your Dallas Mavericks Play-Off win that he is giving away free pizza Thursday night June 16, 2011 5pm to 7pm to celebrate.

There are a few stipulations. First he wants to make sure you are a true Mav’s fan before he parts with a free pie and the litmus test is wearing some sort of Maverick’s gear. Once passing the true-blue assessment he will lay a free Margherita Pizza. This is for dine-in only. Continue reading →

Cane Rosso the beloved mecca for pizza in Deep Ellum is opening up on Wednesday Nights and will have a DJ playing 80’s and 90’s party rock hits from 6-10. Hmmm I wonder who the DJ might be?

Wednesday evening will be labeled as Industry Night, but all are welcome. To kick things off right owner Jay Jerrier is offering $3 craft beer, $5 house wines -or- BYOB. Continue reading →

Fun With The Royals

By now the delightful royals are off in a chain of celebrations after publicly displaying their love and affection. Crave has been eerily silent on the whole William and Kate debacle going on across the pond and today and we feel that we have underserved our readers, even slighted a few by not coming up with some type of report for the auspicious day. After all, we have many friends that awoke pre-dawn to partake in the ceremony in their own way. Most in bed while munching royal cupcakes, a few actually took flight to the United Kingdom.

In an attempt to bridge this lack of royal love (and a friend suggested I might have Kate-envy) we sent our dedicated research department flying across the internet to find the perfect bit of memorabilia so that we too can say we were part of this regal event so many years from now.

Coal Vines Opens in Shops at Legacy

Last Thursday marked the first glimpse of the pending Plano installment of Coal Vines in the Shops at Legacy, the coal-fired pizzeria that serves up some great wines and pizza. The occasion allowed the franchisee to work with the concept corporate chef, Samir Dhurandhar who also oversees the other Phil Romano restaurants Nick and Sam’s Steakhouse as well as Nick and Sam’s Grill.
