First Look: Pizzeria Testa Now Open On Greenville AVenue

Bar 1by Steven Doyle

You recall Kirby’s steakhouse across from the Granada on Greenville Avenue, and more recently Wayward Sons the Graham Dodds resto which closed in February of 2017. It is a massive space yet the new tenant moved in a year after a major remodel and plans on being the best pizza inside the loop. I believe you will enjoy this Neapolitan pie. Some of you have tasted it year ago when we chatted about the Frisco location. It is good.

DFW has a smattering of pretty fantastic Neapolitan pizzerias including the the Frisco based  Pizzeria Testa Napoletana Restaurant which is owned by Rod Schaefer. Schaefer’s mother comes from a long line of Italian pizza makers. In fact the Testa family was once considered the royal pizza makers for the King of Naples.   Continue reading

East Hampton Sandwich Co. Rolls Out New Seasonal Menu

DSC00233by Steven Doyle

Looking back to our first story on East Hampton Sandwich Company in 2012, and its founder the very young and witful Hunter Pond, you could sense that his sandwich shop was destined for greatness. You read about my first bite of his lobster roll, which is at the same moment affordable and delicious. All his sauces and proteins are house-made. The breads are beautiful and locally sourced, custom made to this 30-year olds specifications. It makes total sense that East Hampton has gained so much success.

Recently we sampled many of the new items offered on a rotation basis reflected on East Hampton’s seasonal menu. Continue reading

IMG_0371by Alex Gonzalez

This past Monday evening, Food Network alum Adam Gertler made a special appearance at Dog Haus Biergarten in Richardson. Gertler, known for his runs on shows “Food Network Star,” “Kid in a Candy Store,” and “The Best Thing I Ever Ate,” showcased a variety of his signature hot dogs and burgers

Gertler landed his first television hosting gig after a co-worker of his at Jose Garza’s Amada brought to his attention a casting call listed on Craigslist. He attended said casting call and was later chosen to host “Food Network Star” and “Will Work For Food.” Despite his quick rise to fame within the food and entertainment industry, Gertler quickly realized that hosting, on its own, won’t pay the bills. 5 Ways DFW Residents can Save on their electric bill

To some, saving money means scrutinizing basic spending habits in order to locate unnecessary expenses and begin cutting them. That weekly stop at Starbucks may become bi-weekly, while Friday restaurant dinners may become more of a treat. It’s easy to think about our expenses as external things and far too often we fail to realize that saving can actually begin by making just a few minor changes at home. The best part about those changes is that they are usually quick and easy, allowing us to hold onto more of our hard-earned dollars. Realizing big savings can be as simple as implementing these five money saving strategies. Continue reading
