It seems the only time “fishes” is an acceptable word is on Christmas Eve, when Italians honor the tradition of the Feast of the Seven Fishes, or as they say in the old country, “Esta dei Sette Pesci.” Seafood lovers go crazy for the fish bonanza, but how did it all start, and why?

Legend has it that the tradition started in southern regions like Naples and Sicily but is little known in northern Italy. Though many facts surrounding the feast are unknown, there are two definite truths: It’s about seafood and family.  Continue reading →

Dallas Chef Estevan Galindo Passed Today

Sad news has shaken the local chef circle in the passing of an endearing, talented man, Estevan Galindo. Chef Galindo’s capabilities were always felt, and always present in the Dallas area, not only as executive chef at Hattie’s and C. Señor (both in Bishop Arts) where he worked for many years presenting authentic low-country cuisine, but with great heart giving to those in need. Continue reading →

Graham Dodds and Chad Houser Join Forces for Special Holiday Cooking Class

Two of the Dallas area’s most popular chefs are teaming up on Saturday, December 9th at the Granada Theater on Lower Greenville for a really fun 3 hours of teaching some of their favorite dishes for the holidays. Both Graham Dodds and Chad Houser will be working together at this special cooking class.

Expect some surprise guests, holiday music, and superb holiday cocktails from Deep Eddy Vodka. Everyone who attends the class will enjoy the dishes created by the chefs and will leave with the recipes that day all with a lovely holiday theme.

For The Love of Jackson

If involved in any scene whatsoever, food, fashion or anything involving fun, you know of the man named Jackson. A single named entity right here in Dallas. He owns the exciting company Fluent, which is an ultra Dallas concierge service, or a lifestyle management company, that brings clients closer to the things they need most. Like most of Dallas, I consider Jackson a friend. If nothing else, the man inspires us all to be the best we can be at all things.

Jackson is a true Dallas icon, and today he needs us. Jackson recently suffered a stroke leaving him paralyzed on half his body. The tone and lean Jackson will no doubt recover, but like many of us who operate our own businesses Jackson does not have health insurance and his bills are mounting by leaps and bounds daily.  Continue reading →
