untitledby Jennifer Thomas

Imagine turning the corner to a Bloody Mary truck waiting with your free morning cocktail. Seems too good to be true, but believe it, because Stoli is making it happen.

Stolichnaya Premium Vodka kicks off their Stoli Bloody Mary tour. The brand’s “Search for Mary” campaign began Feb. 14 as Stoli boarded a customized food truck bound for Miami, Dallas and New York to explore how different regional cultures, local flavors and traditions have made the Bloody Mary their own.   Continue reading

An Dallas Evening with Johnny Schuler of Pisco Porton

DSC00621by Steven Doyle

If you have been out on the town in recent weeks you may have noticed an escalation of a particular spirit on the cocktail menus. Pisco is a colorless or amber toned grape brandy made in Peru since the 16th century by Spanish settlers. Since that time pisco has been distilled using traditional methods, and Pisco Porton is one of the finer examples of the product. The Pisco Porton master distiller, Johnny Schuler is in the DFW area all week. Schuler resides in Lima, Peru where he owns restaurants and has an entertaining television program that features Pisco Porton.    Continue reading

Lakewood Brewing Antigoon’s Revenge

lakewodby Brian Wall

Ahh, St. Patrick’s Day. There are fewer days on the calendar year that are more perfectly suited for enjoying a beer. New Year’s, your birthday and Fourth of July come to mind as better days but St. Pat’s is definitely in those rankings if not at the top of the list. While there were quite a few beers drank on this day, none being green because I don’t drink poor beer that requires green coloring, the one that definitely stands out is Lakewood Brewing Company’s Antigoon’s Revenge.

Lakewood Brewing Company has a focus on Belgian style beers and Antigoon’s Revenge is no exception to this rule. Antigoon’s Revenge is a limited release Belgian-style golden ale from their Legendary Series. Most Belgian ales are very light in hop flavor and can be slightly sweet or spicy depending on the malts and yeast used in the brewing process.  The Belgian ales that I have personally tasted have a slight spicy flavor from the yeast strains used.      Continue reading

savorby Steven Doyle

We have been building up to this for weeks now, and Savor Dallas is finally here. Click away to see the various events that are available for you to enjoy, culminating to the wonderful International Tasting we enjoy each year with a bevy of chef tastings and plenty of incredible wines to sample. This is like the Super Bowl of foodie events in the North Texas area, and you will want to savor every bit of the events on schedule.

In addition to all the fun events, organizers, who include Jim White and Vicki Briley-White, they play host to many VIP’s that come in literally from around the world. These VIP’s might include chefs, winemakers and national media. What do the organizers do with these people when they aren’t savoring? They show them around Dallas. Mostly they go to restaurants. If you would like to be a VIP, we somehow came upon the list of where they are going this week. Check these hot spots out:   Continue reading

The essence of the ruling is that this practice will continue as the status quo. Continue reading
