This is the weekend many of you have been waiting for – SALT is finally having their launch party tonight.  There will be cocktail specials, live DJ music and delicious food.  SALT will be introducing their new dining menu which will include tropical Pineapple & Jalapeno Escabeche Alaskan Cod and Pan Seared Rockfish, sweet-chili calamari, and smoked beef carpaccio.

It is going to be one very busy and fun week at craveDFW, and we are about to make your weekend a little sweeter with the announcement of craveTOURS. This weekend we start our very first tour by celebrating Cinco de Mayo in high fashion aboard a luxury bus  bound for some super destinations where we will not only enjoy frosty margaritas, but some tasty Mexican fare, discover a bit about the holiday and Mexican culture, learn how to actually make the best tamale in Dallas from our friends at La Popular, and so much more.

Joining the team is food wunderkind Stacy Fawcett who does plenty of cooking at Channel 8 for various segments including Daybreak. Celebrate With Gloria Campos Tonight

Pay your respects to outgoing Channel 8 news anchor Gloria Campos tonight from 9 to 11pm at the Victory Plaza studio near downtown Dallas. There will be some revelry and food trucks lined up to serve her fans.

Campos has been with WFAA since September 1984, when she started as an anchor. Campos was the first Hispanic anchor in the Dallas-Fort Worth market. Prior to the Channel 8 gig she spent eight years at KGBT-TV in he hometown of  Harlingen which was her only other broadcasting job shortly after graduating from Southwest Texas State University in 1976.  Continue reading

Texas Bartenders Are Bringing It Home From Tales Of The Cocktail

Thursday morning, Bar Smyth’s Omar Yeefoon took the national title of Stoli’s Most Original Bartender, winning over the judges with creative cocktails such as a play on a Manhattan and a deconstructed Moscow Mule, which entailed lime, brown sugar, a shot of vodka and candied sugar on a plate. He competed against four other bartenders from New York, Miami, LA, Dallas and Chicago. Yeefoon took Dallas last month at Candleroom where he went head to head with Cedar Social’s Trina Nishimura and the Dram’s Jason Birt.   Continue reading

Tres de Mayo Party at Ku De Ta May 3

For those of us who do NOT enjoy spending our weekends sucking in our stomachs for photographers, there is now another way to enjoy the sexy and exclusive pool club Ku De Ta in Old East Dallas. But it is only for one night. The Top Rung Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to improving the Dallas community by raising money for different charities, is having a party this Friday night and we are all invited. Parris Rigby, the foundation’s leader and consummate hostess, along with her well-connected and philanthropic friends and partners, is taking over what they are calling “The Compound,” a first-time-ever combination of the Chicago pub-like Three Sheets, old dance hall reminiscent Southern Comforts, and the previously mentioned urban oasis Ku De Ta for a “Tres de Mayo” party, bringing attention to the foundation and a new crowd to the three properties owned by Patrick Tetrick.         Continue reading
