Nosh Euro Bistro Plano Opens Thursday

For those in the Plano or the surrounding areas that are curious about the new Nosh Euro Bistro that is slated to open this week, we just spoke with chef-partner Jon Stevens who will be manning the kitchen at the new restaurant. Jon will be wearing the top toque while he finalizes hiring the chef that will take over permanently. Feast of the Seven Fishes at Urban Crust

Urban Crust will be serving an amazing three course dinner this Christmas Eve. The Feast of the Seven Fishes originates from the Medieval Roman Catholic Italians who refrained from eating red meat during the sacred holidays and instead enjoyed a feast of seven types of fish on Christmas Eve. Urban Crust will compose a dinner of several types of fish including mussels, calamari, octopus, shrimp, scallops, crab meat, sea bass, tuna, salmon and flounder. Continue reading →

Ruth’s Chris Event Benefits Minnie’s Food Pantry

Put this on your to-do list for the season and join Ruth’s Chris Steak House on December 19 at 6:00. It could be your first stop to put you in the Holiday spirit.The event offers food and drinks with 100% of proceeds benefiting the Minnie’s Food Pantry in Plano. Tickets are $20 at the door.

The mission of Minnie’s Food Pantry is to provide good quality name brand food, meals, and respect to all hunger insecure families in the community. A $25,000 commitment is to be raised by Christmas Day.

What’s for Supper, Grandpa?

I am not sure if you have seen any of the old reruns of Hee Haw that will pop up on television on the occasional Saturday afternoon, but there was a segment where a character named Grandpa Jones would rattle off a litany of crazy country cooking and pronounce it supper. The last few days seems like it has been a similar feeding frenzy. A burger here, a whole fish there, and a few cups of pho to settle it all in for the day.

Sea Breeze in Plano Remodeling, Big Sale

Sea Breeze Fish Market in Plano has been busily remodeling the space, and plan to be more full service soon. The plans include a full bar with more of a restaurant setting. Sea Breeze will continue to sell fresh seafood but will feature a larger menu.

This weekend the walls come tumbling down and will be closed Sunday, November 13 and open again Thursday, November 17. The staff will use this time to do a little fishing. Continue reading →

Mr G’s in Plano Offering Huge Tasting

I don’t know how many CraveDFW readers are also avid listeners of The Ticket (1310am), but those who are have probably already heard about a great event coming up this Thursday. While I am a huge fan of Veritas on Henderson and their oft imitated – never duplicated free wine tastings, the event I’m about to tell you about is, in my opinion, one of the best free tasting events in the metroplex. I don’t want to wait until Friday to let people know I was there, that would just be selfish! Here’s the scoop:

Every few months The Ticket’s Hardline (Mike Rhyner and Corby Davidson) broadcast a show live from Mr. G’s Beverage and Deli in Plano. During that broadcast, Mr G’s owner Robert Gartner and his staff pull out all the stops. The fact that this event is free really makes it worth the drive to Plano. Continue reading →

Wild About Wild Game Week at Mignon

This week Dallas diners are in for a true treat if they are to visit Mignon in Plano. The venerable French Bistro style steakhouse on Preston Road is known for serving prime beef and fresh seafood, but this week something new will be added — markedly a temporary wild game menu.

Staying true with their French technique, Mignon has planned a separate menu that will feature selections of rabbit, wild boar, elk and quail. The restaurant recently hosted a tasting and we were invited to sample. Although these dishes were rich and savory, just in time for the Fall season, we are still eye-balling their braised beef short ribs or the puff pastry filled with escargot (another rare item on Dallas menus).
