Sissy’s Now Open For Lunch

Sissy’s Southern Kitchen is now open for luncheon service Monday through Friday, opening at 11am. Sissy’s is an authentic Southern restaurant by chef Lisa Garza, a former contestant on The Next Food Network Star and owner of Lisa Garza Taste Studio.

Expect menu staples such as Sissy’s signature fried chicken, Gulf shrimp and grits, and roasted redfish with sweet corn maque choux mixed in with a few newcomers. Entrée salads include pickled Gulf shrimp over spinach, lump crab cake with fine herb salad and shallot vinaigrette, and herb poached red snapper atop mixed greens with preserved lemon vinaigrette.

Pour House Dallas Opens In Oak Cliff Tomorrow

Oak Cliff’s newest sports bar – PhD –opens for dinner at 5 p.m. Wednesday, September 19 offering good food, great prices and the best seats in Oak Cliff to catch a game.

“After realizing that Oak Cliff was missing a solid sports bar, I thought I should bring Pour House to Dallas,” says PhD and Fort Worth’s Pour House owner Eric Tschetter. “I’m looking forward to PhD becoming the neighborhood sports bar in Oak Cliff.”    Continue reading

Monster Yogurt Opening In Richardson

Monster Yogurt which has a location in Casa Linda in east Dallas just signed a lease for a new location in Richardson. The 1,900 square foot location is located at Coit and Campbell roads and will feature 80 flavors of frozen yogurt and the Cave playground for the kiddos.

It’s scary and just in time for Halloween.

Masskrugstemmen Tonight At Flying Saucer And The Londoner

One of the signature events at Addison’s Oktoberfest is Thursday night’s MassKrug competition.  Four semi-finalists will compete – holding a 1 liter stein full of beer for as long as they can without spilling a drop.  The final winner holds their beer the longest and will a trip to a California Oktoberfest (airfare for two, hotel, and the works).

The game hails from Germany, where it is played at festivals, in biergartens, and even in grade schools. Masskrugstemmen has caught on here in America in the past few years, with regional and national competitions being held around the country. A liter of beer weighs about 5 pounds.  Continue reading

Get Your Celebrity Chef Fix This Weekend At the Metropolitan Cooking Show

This coming weekend local food enthusiasts will be entertained by their favorite local chefs as well as celebrity chefs from the Food Network at the 2012 Metropolitan Cooking and Entertaining Show. The event takes place at the Dallas Convention Center and offers a plethora of events to keep even those with very short attention spans busy gawking at the latest cooking trends, gadgets and techniques.  

Headlined by Food Network stars Paula Deen and Bobby Flay, MetroCooking Dallas has partnered with The James Beard Foundation to present a rotating roster of Texas-based talent set to entertain and enlighten attendees on an exclusive cooking stage.  The current list of James Beard affiliated chefs include Stephan Pyles, Tre Wilcox, Richard Chamberlain, Adam West, Bruno Davaillon and Abraham Salum.        Continue reading
