A Cafe Momentum Success Story

by Jayne Chobot             photos by Robert Bostick

Café Momentum hosted their latest pop-up dinner fundraiser prepared by the amazing Dallas chef Michael Ehlert. This is an exciting time for the non-profit program, with its new (and first) Executive Director, Chad Houser, having turned in his chef coat for a suit this month. With the incredible meal provided courtesy of Campo and the young, spirited, and talented gentlemen in the Café Momentum program, the flowing wine courtesy of Oak Cliff Cellars, and the intriguing conversations throughout the restaurant, guests still could not stop remarking on how much fun (and how impressive!) it was to see Chef Houser all dressed up. Guests were assured that it was not something they should get used to, however.       Continue reading

by Steven Doyle                 photos by Joey Stewart

When we spoke to Wolfgang Puck back in February he indicated he was making great strides in making his restaurants fresher and more local. At that time Puck had already scheduled to close his flagship restaurant, Spago to retool and update to mirror these current trends.

Puck’s restaurant in Dallas, Five Sixty, is pretty special in the fact it has one amazing sushi bar that is helmed by long time Puck employee Chef Hiroyuki Fujino who serves Omakase-Style.        Continue reading

Kenny’s Smoke House To Open In December At Shops Of Legacy

by Steven Doyle

We like us some Kenny Bowers. This is the mastermind behind many restaurants located in Addison and in Frisco. His Kenny’s Burger joint is the real deal, and we love the meatball at his Italian hook-up.

Back in May, Chef Kenny went on a road trip and brought us back snapshots from Memphis. Little did we know at the time that it was actually a mission to sniff out great barbecue. Now the man is ready to debut his latest restaurant, Kenny’s Smoke House which will be located in Plano, Texas.

The acclaimed chef and his business partners, Mike Hutchinson and Bob Stegall, will open Kenny’s Smoke House at The Shops of Legacy this winter.  The 2,700 square foot restaurant will showcase a variety of smoked meats as well as favorites that fans of the popular chef have come to expect.            Continue reading

Effin-Good FNO Eats

by Farah Fleurima

Come this Thursday night, it’ll be nigh impossible not to find a party associated with Fashion’s Night Out, that evening of soirees that kicks off New York Fashion Week. Dallas happens to go all out for it, with every shopping establishment worth its salt throwing a cocktail-soaked mini-fete in honor of, well … shopping. But you need energy for the hours on end of high-heeled revelry, so here’s a little guide to where to feast (or nibble) pre-FNO, depending on your circumstance (call ahead, as most of these spots require reservations). Aimed at ladies, ’cause, let’s face it … you kind of own the night.          Continue reading

A Cookie Collaboration

by Steven Doyle

From the woman who brought us some of the most delicious cookies imaginable, Pam Denesuk has always maintained that life is too short to eat an average cookie. We whole heartedly agree. The owner of Great One Cookie Company has managed to take her company to epic heights in the short one year it has been in business.

You may recall this was the cookie of choice at this year’s Academy Awards.         Continue reading
