Ka-Tip to Open at Dallas Farmers Market

This past weekend Ka-Tip, the future Thai restaurant that will occupy a space street-level in the Harvest Lofts at the Dallas Farmers Market, previewed their menu to a capacity crowd at Taco y Vino in Oak Oak Cliff. There guests tasted a small variety of dishes that pleased and in some cases surprised the guests with their marvelous flavors.

“There really is nothing like our food in Dallas, these are the true flavors of Thailand,” oKa-Tip owner George Kaiho told us via a phone interview. George is half Japanese while his girlfriend is Thai, and she is the one who showed Kaiho how the flavors worked using recipes from her childhood, and ingredients rarely found in the North Texas area. Riscky’s Celebrates 91 Years With New Menu Items

Riscky’s was founded in 1927 by Polish immigrants, Mary and Joe Riscky, who opened its first location – Riscky’s Grocery & Market – on Azle Avenue on the northside of Fort Worth, Texas.  This original location is still open and operating today after four generations of Riscky family ownership.
“After 91 years of operation, we are proud that Riscky’s has maintained the tradition and legacy it was founded upon,” said Eddie Sullivan, co-owner of Riscky’s. “Our original location on Azle Avenue is still open and operating today, and our barbeque is still slow-smoked using the using the decades-old, original post oak wood-burning pits. But we listen and value the opinions of our customers and are excited to provide them with more variety and some tasty new options.”

Free Virtual Vacation to Alabama Coast August 25th at Klyde Warren

The Alabama Tourism Department will take to the streets of Dallas to show people what a trip to Alabama’s Gulf Coast could be like. Park-goers can take a mini-vacation on Saturday, August 25th from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. as they experience what it is like to parasail over the turquoise waters and sugar-white sands of Alabama’s beaches, all while remaining only a few feet off the ground on a virtual reality simulator in the center of Klyde Warren Park. Longhorn Ballroom Hosts Inaugural Low & Slow Festival (Recap)

This past Saturday, Low ‘N’ Slow: North Texas BBQ & Music Festival made its debut at Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas. For its first ever showcase, Low ‘N’ Slow proved to be a potential signature event for the newly renovated Longhorn Ballroom.

As its name suggests, Low ‘N’ Slow was an eight-hour long festival consisting of performances by local musicians and booths from some of Dallas’s best barbeque restaurants. Continue reading
