Jonathon’s Forestwood sits at 5337 Forest Lane in North Dallas, and on a Saturday morning the parking lot fills up long before most people are willing to admit they’re awake. Owner Jonathon Erdeljac, known around Dallas as the Gravy King for good reason, has built a real weekend following here since opening in September 2023, and the thing regulars mention before the food is usually the bar setup: a build-your-own Bloody Mary station, house-made mix, a full spread of garnishes, the kind of thing that turns waiting for a table into part of the plan instead of a nuisance.

Hot Pancakes Does Exactly What the Name Promises, and Then Some

Hot Pancakes is one of those restaurants that names itself exactly what it does and then somehow still manages to under promise. Yes, there are pancakes, hot ones, and they’re the reason the place has built a genuine following on North Jupiter Road in Richardson. But the menu goes well past the griddle, and that’s what turns a quick breakfast stop into a full-on regular’s diner.

Angela’s Cafe Has Been Feeding This Neighborhood for 25 Years

There’s a category of restaurant that exists in every city — the place that’s been quietly doing the same thing well for a quarter century, sitting behind a strip center where even Uber drivers occasionally lose the plot trying to find it, serving a neighborhood that has long since stopped needing directions. Angela’s Cafe, at 7979 Inwood Road near Lovers Lane, is exactly that kind of place. Twenty-five years in, it’s still mostly known to the people who live within a mile of it, and that’s a shame, because the food is better than a strip-center breakfast spot has any obligation to be.

Jonathon’s Forestwood for a Patty Melt

Some restaurants you find. Others find you. Jonathon’s Forestwood is the second kind. Somebody mentions it, you file it away, and then one morning you’re pulling into the parking lot at Forest Lane and the North Dallas Tollway wondering why you waited so long. The place has been drawing crowds since Jonathon and Christine Erdeljac opened the doors in September 2023. That opening came at the end of a two-year renovation that tested every bit of patience they had.

Record Grill is a Timeless Diner with Classic Comfort Food in Downtown Dallas

Slapped next to a modest building on Elm Street in the heart of Downtown Dallas, Record Grill isn’t trying to impress with flash or flair—and that’s exactly why it’s a local legend. This no-frills diner has been turning out hearty American meals since the 1960s, offering up hot plates, warm service, and the kind of food that sticks with you long after you leave. There’s no website and their Facebook hasn’t been updated since 2011.

Record Grill’s menu is a greatest-hits compilation of diner classics. Pop Diner Opens Today At 11am

The wait is over Dallas, you finally have your original 24 hour eatery in Uptown, and from first glimpse you are going to like Pop Diner. The menu is fairly straight forward that is at once iconic yet fun. You will be familiar with most of the items listed on the large menu.

The owner, Nik Gjonaj, is originally from Detroit where he owns a successful chain of steakhouses called Luca’s Chophouse. “In my opinion, Dallas rivals Chicago’s food scene. If you can’t make it here, you can’t make it anywhere. This is probably the best test market in the nation. Also, I just love the vibe here and the people,” said Gjonaj. Continue reading →
