Some restaurants you find. Others find you. Jonathon’s Forestwood is the second kind. Somebody mentions it, you file it away, and then one morning you’re pulling into the parking lot at Forest Lane and the North Dallas Tollway wondering why you waited so long. The place has been drawing crowds since Jonathon and Christine Erdeljac opened the doors in September 2023. That opening came at the end of a two-year renovation that tested every bit of patience they had.

Record Grill is a Timeless Diner with Classic Comfort Food in Downtown Dallas

Slapped next to a modest building on Elm Street in the heart of Downtown Dallas, Record Grill isn’t trying to impress with flash or flair—and that’s exactly why it’s a local legend. This no-frills diner has been turning out hearty American meals since the 1960s, offering up hot plates, warm service, and the kind of food that sticks with you long after you leave. There’s no website and their Facebook hasn’t been updated since 2011.

Record Grill’s menu is a greatest-hits compilation of diner classics. Breakfast lovers will find everything from fluffy pancakes and eggs made to order, to breakfast burritos and sausage that sizzles just right. Come lunchtime, the grill gets going with juicy cheeseburgers, crispy bacon sandwiches, and chicken fried steak that channels old-school Texas soul.

Pop Diner Opens Today At 11am

The wait is over Dallas, you finally have your original 24 hour eatery in Uptown, and from first glimpse you are going to like Pop Diner. The menu is fairly straight forward that is at once iconic yet fun. You will be familiar with most of the items listed on the large menu.

The owner, Nik Gjonaj, is originally from Detroit where he owns a successful chain of steakhouses called Luca’s Chophouse. “In my opinion, Dallas rivals Chicago’s food scene. If you can’t make it here, you can’t make it anywhere. This is probably the best test market in the nation. Also, I just love the vibe here and the people,” said Gjonaj. Continue reading
