There is no doubt that the people at Crave enjoy great seafood, and what a marvelous time of year to enjoy delicious creatures from the sea. Although none of us are Catholic at Crave (more heathen that anything else), the lenten season gives us great reason to jump on the wagon to good food. From briny oysters to sweet crabs of all sorts and so much more.

We have made plenty of lists in the past, and certainly soup has been a big draw for the cold, wintery months such as we are experiencing. One of our favorite soups comes from King’s Noodles (read about that place here). There are plenty of mainstays in Dallas such as the mushroom soup at The Grape, a recipe that will not, and should not ever leave that menu. Other perennials include the marshmallow soup at Rise No. 1 which is actually a rich tomato soup with pillows of roasted goat cheese.
Make a better soup and the world will beat down your door, especially when it is 25 degrees in Dallas.

Ceviche is seafood prepared in a centuries old method of cooking by contact with the acidic juice of citrus juice instead of heat. The preparation and consumption of ceviche is practically a religion in parts of Mexico, Central, and South America, and it seems as though there are as many varieties of ceviche as people who eat it. It can be eaten as a first course or main dish, depending on what is served with it.
The chemical process that occurs when the acid of the citrus comes in contact with the fish is similar what happens when the fish is cooked, and the flesh becomes opaque and firm. Continue reading
On March 12, 2009 your lawmakers passed a non-binding resolution (HRES 224) recognizing March 14, 2009 as National Pi Day. It is one of the more legit holidays we discuss here, and it is actually an homage to geeks everywhere who see the date as a reason to celebrate due to its mathematical implications. We say any reason to celebrate anything is just fine by us.
