When it comes to French dining in Dallas, options may be limited to a small handful, butLavendou Bistro Provençal stands out as a true gem. Located in a non-descript shopping center on Preston Road, this charming restaurant is helmed by the remarkable Pascal Cayet, a name synonymous with French cuisine in the area.
Pascal’s journey began in the heart of Paris at the esteemed Tour d’Argent, a historic restaurant with stunning views of Notre Dame Cathedral. After arriving in Dallas in the 1980s, he quickly established himself as a pioneer of French cuisine, founding the beloved French Country restaurant Chez Gerard in Dallas. This restaurant garnered a loyal following, including Stanley Marcus, who regarded it as one of his favorites. Eventually, Pascal moved northward, leading to the creation of Lavendou, a delightful slice of France that captures the essence of traditional French dining.

One of our very favorite restaurants in Dallas, or anywhere really, is Lavendou Bistro in far North Dallas on Preston owned and operated by our favorite Frenchman with an outrageously delightful accent, Pascal Cayet.
A visit to a French restaurant in Dallas is certainly an experience when you realize how few of them there are in this area. Fortunately, Lavendou Bistro Provençalis one of the very best, owned and operated by one of the most amazing hosts our city has today – Pascal Cayet.
Pascal’s first job was at Tour d’Argent in Paris, overlooking Notre Dame Cathedral and arrived in Dallas in the 1980’s where he was one of the innovators for French cuisine. He was founder and owner of the famous French Country restaurant Chez Gerard on McKinney Avenue, which was one of Stanley Marcus’ favorite restaurants. It was during a period of growth that Pascal moved his restaurant north, and then it was very far north, to his location on Preston near George Bush. Thus the birth of Lavendou, this slice of France located in a cozy shopping center.
