Serious Bowls Of Soup To Keep You Warm Tonight

The weather forecast calls for the possibility of freezing rain in North Texas. Time to hunker down to a fine bowl of soup, either at home, or out and about for the brave. Either way, we’ve got you covered.

Tortilla Soup simply screams Dallas, and the king of the Tortilla Soup is none other than Dean Fearing who picked up the task while serving as Mess Sergeant at The Mansion on Turtle Creek.  We have witnessed the making of this soup, and let’s just say it is far easier to mosey into the Ritz-Carlton than actually produce the soup yourself. However, if you wish to attempt the recipe, we list it at the bottom of this article.

Stewpot Fundraiser with Chef José Andrés Rescheduled for March 4

The 13th annual Stewpot Alliance Soup’s On! Luncheon and Art Sale goes virtual Thursday, March 4th at 12:00pm featuring award-winning chef, restaurateur and humanitarian José Andrés.  Robert Wilonsky, Communications Director for Heritage Auctions and op-ed columnist for the Dallas Morning News joins Chef Andrés for a conversation about how his efforts ensure people worldwide are fed in the wake of catastrophe. Soup’s On! 2021 presented by The Stewpot Alliance is co-chaired by longtime Stewpot supporters Becky and Larry Sykes. 
Proceeds from the luncheon benefit The Stewpot which now, in its 46th year serves our neighbors who are experiencing and at risk of homelessness by providing meals (over 8,000,000 to date), counseling and case management, medical and dental services via onsite partners, youth and family stabilization programs, as well as therapeutic and vocational activities.

The 12th annual Stewpot Alliance Soup’s On! Luncheon and Art Sale will be held Thursday, February 20th

The 12th annual Stewpot Alliance Soup’s On! Luncheon and Art Sale will be held Thursday, February 20th at 11:00am at the Omni Dallas Hotel featuring Judge Craig Mitchell as the keynote speaker. Proceeds benefit The Stewpot, now entering its 45th year of service to our homeless and at-risk neighbors, providing meals, medical and dental services, counseling and case management, youth and family stabilization programs, as well as therapeutic and vocational activities.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Craig Mitchell is the founder of the Skid Row Running Club which is featured in the documentary Skid Row Marathon. Founded in 2012, The Skid Row Running Club provides a running program for the Skid Row Community of Los Angeles and involves the larger community in supporting its members in overcoming alcohol/drug abuse and achieving positive life goals. Judge Mitchell will share inspirational stories about how the power of running can change lives. Continue reading

Stewpot Alliance Soups on! January 29th

The 10th annual Stewpot Alliance Soup’s On! Luncheon and Art Sale will be held Monday, January 29 (11am-1:15pm) at the recently renovated Statler Hotel. The Stewpot has provided meals to homeless and at-risk neighbors in downtown Dallas for more than 40 years.

Programs and partnerships have developed to support medical and dental needs, counseling and case management, youth and family stabilization programs, therapeutic and vocational activities.  The Stewpot Alliance has contributed close to 2.5 million dollars to The Stewpot. Continue reading

Stewpot Alliance ‘Soup’s On!’ Jan 19th

The 8th annual Stewpot Alliance Soup’s On! Luncheon and Art Sale will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2016 (11am-1:15pm) at downtown Dallas’ historic Union Station. Featured speaker is Collins Tuohy, whose life was chronicled in The Blind Side.

The Stewpot Alliance Soup’s On! Luncheon and Art Show features a dozen of Dallas’ finest chefs serving up a signature soup as the first course of the meal. Chefs include Chef Chairman Brian C.
