10_2013_03_Momentum_Ft33-9627by David Indorf    photos by Robert Bostick

How do you sell out one of the country’s hottest restaurants with a prix fixe menu at $100 per plate? Secure in the knowledge that you will have 100% attendance with dozens more clamoring for tickets. Oh, and did I forget to mention that this little miracle occurs in the span of 20 seconds? It’s actually rather simple. You open your restaurant to Café Momentum, the concept developed to train young men detained in the Dallas County Youth Village in the culinary arts from the ground up.    Continue reading →

Review: Bowl And Barrel

dsc04315by Steven Doyle

What an exciting time to enjoy to be living in Dallas. There are so many cultural advances and unique restaurants popping up across Dallas and Fort Worth. Bowl and Barrel is certainly one of the more unique restaurants to hit Dallas running. While the food is not exactly haute cuisine, it is fun, brave and unique due mainly to the chef who crafted the menu, Sharon Hage. We are fortunate to have her brilliant talent seeding these new restaurants with her very special touch.

Bowl and Barrel is the bowling alley with terrific food in a separate restaurant area and features the largest community dining  table  I have seen in Dallas. On a recent visit a guest explained that she was new to the Dallas area and came to Bowl and Barrel not knowing anyone, and left with a handful of friends that she met up with nights later. This is the power of dining with strangers. For those wanting a more private setting there are plenty of seats available in the more traditional sense.    Continue reading →

IMG_6232by Mary Szefcyk

Guests settled in for a fun filled evening enjoying food, wine and live music at the Westin Galleria for this year’s Bonne Sante, an event that raises funds for the National Kidney Foundation. Scott Gottich (his sister is a transplant recipient) of Bijoux and William Koval (his son was only born with one kidney) of Lakewood Country club were the host chefs of this exciting event. Love goes out to them and all they have brought together under one roof to help spread the awareness of kidney disease prevention and the need for organ donation. We’ve been spoiled sampling from some of the most outstanding chefs from Dallas, Fort Worth, Las Vegas, Augusta, Philadelphia, and Park Cities working side by side creating some of our favorite dishes sharing stories of there passion and culinary history.

Dr. Goran Klintmalm Chairman and Chief of Baylor Regional Transplant Institute received a very special award “Gift of Life” Klintmalm has performed thousands of organ transplants during his career. Well deserved His Legacy and passion for advancing the field of transplantation is much appreciated.           Continue reading →
