We Crave Ascension Coffee

ascension3by Angela Hopkins

Just at the four month mark, this two year concept in the making hit Dallas Café lovers, with a new twist on a traditional love.  Ascension Coffee is more than coffee.

We asked our Barista, and who would have known the owner was standing next to her, “what would you recommend, this is our first time?”  With a popular vote from the best sales to the best ingredients I warmed my hands on the Chai Latte with Almond Milk and my sidekick entertained the Quartado.  We were told the Almond Milk is soon to be made in house.  They also carry moo moo milk as I call it, and soy.  Both were to our liking, so after 30 minutes we ordered another round.      Continue reading →

Brunch At Dish

dishby Steven Doyle

Brunch is a high priority in Dallas and with so many options for the mid-day weekend activity it is important you make the right selection of restaurant, and more so, the right dish. That is why we set our sites on Dish this weekend. Chef Garreth Dickey has quietly been plating some special brunch items, and he couldn’t possibly think we wouldn’t take notice.

Dish might be more famously known for its drag brunch. The restaurant turns its tables three times during the last weekend hurray drag-fest, and it is not just the friendly gayborhood patrol in for a looksee; this brunch attracts a full range of people looking for a fabulous Sunday Funday.    Continue reading →

A Pleasant Pinot

2010 MacMurray Ranch Pinot Noir Reserve, Russian River Valleyby Andrew Chalk

2010 McMurray Pinot Noir

Russian River Valley Pinot Noirs are characterized by intense, ripe, forward fruit. Soft tannins. Raspberry flavors and a lusciousness imparted by generous use of French oak. This wine fits the template perfectly but sells for somewhat less than you may be used to paying for Pinot Noir ($37 SRP) and it should be in wide distribution,

Enjoy this wine with pork, veal or duck.

My bottle was a sample provided by the winery.

Trace Arnoldby Steven Doyle

Meet the Rib Whisperer Trace Arnold and witness the ultimate smoker he built that is 80-feet long and as big around as a tanker truck this weekend in Frisco at his newly opened 3 Stacks Smoke and Tap House. There will be free ‘que on hand as well as a peek at an official NASCARmobile.

Join the fun Saturday April 13, 2013 from 10am to 5pm at 4226 Preston Rd, Frisco. Call 469.287.9035 for more deets. It’s a party, folks. And for the record, I prefer not knowing what it takes to be called a Rib Whisperer.

A Few Spots In Dallas To Find Good Bar Food

DSC06972by Steven Doyle

Sitting at a bar in either a restaurant or a pub you get to know the line on the action at the establishment. This is the very heart of the operation, and your friendly barman has the scoop on everything happening from their vantage point.

This is also the best place to score some fine vittles while soaking up your gin and tonic after an exhausting day of drinking gin and tonics. Sometimes a meal is not in order, but sharing a truly interesting bite at the bar hits the spot before moving on to your next task for the evening.      Continue reading →

Karmany Yoga is Simply Auuuumazing!

yogaby Angela Hopkins

When Angela first started contributing to craveDFW she asked what her limits were in what she might choose as topics. We told her crave was about anything she might desire as a young woman. Today she put us to the test and submitted an article on her favorite yoga studio. We loved it.

A community has come together to promote the well-being of our self-worth and that of others.   How? Karmany Yoga is a donation based studio with a location in both Fort Worth and Dallas.  No memberships.  No cards.  No Problems.  Brilliant!   Drop a minimum $15 in the donation box, unroll your mat, and get ready for inner and outer transformation.  I welcome this new, much needed, non-corporate way to say “Namaste.” Continue reading →
