by Steven Doyle

As we announced earlier in the week, chef John Tesar of The Commissary will host his Extreme Chef debut and watching party at 8pm tomorrow at the One Arts Plaza restaurant. We found a few ‘extreme’ photos of Tesar in action and thought you might enjoy them.

Are you interested in using yoga to develop a deeper connection with youth in our community? Would you like to play a role in offering yoga to kids facing challenges like homelessness, truancy, and sex trafficking?

Studio to Streets, a Dallas based community outreach program, that uses Yoga to help promote health, happiness, and self-empowerment to undeserved Dallas communities is looking for volunteers! Their mission is to help Yoga teachers, assistants, and students join together to facilitate fun, empowering classes, using yoga as a medium to connect and build relationships with people who can’t make it into a studio.

Dee Lincoln’s Bubble Bar – The Scene, The Thirst, The Food

by Stealing Kitty   photos by John Stuchly

There is a new, swanky hangout in town and it is a must-see on your night on the town with your girlfriends, on a sexy date, or even business meeting, Dee Lincoln’s Restaurant and Bubble Bar.

Recognized from Dallas to Wall Street as a national female powerhouse in the male-dominated steakhouse industry, Dee Lincoln is now taking her luxury brand to the next level with Dee Lincoln’s Restaurant and Bubble Bar. She has expanded her Cowboy Stadium concept to her new digs in the Rosewood Building off Cedar Springs.

The new location is chic with a splash at ease flavor with its comfortable seating, thirty-two station wine machine, and one of the only flute machines in the US. Lincoln brought in Ruth’s Chris chef, Juliard Esshizuka, utilizing his expertise with meat and fish, bringing flavorful and as a fellow diner pointed out, “addictive” fare to your table. The restaurant offers comfortable seating throughout with big, high back, cranberry colored bar chairs, large, white and brown, leather couches, conversation tables and semi private lounge areas. This is as soon as you walk in the door.  Continue reading

Get Ready For Hatch Peppers!

by Steven Doyle

It’s time to gear up once again for one of our favorite times of the year, Hatch Chile Season. No one does Hatch Chile’s better in Dallas than Central Market with all the grandeur deserving the flavorful pepper.

For those that participated in the season last year know it was a particularly spicy season with even the mild versions having an extra bit of kick. It will be interesting to see how the weather this year affects the peppers on the Scoville front.

This will mark the 16th season for Central Market since they first fired up their first batch of chilies creating a great stir that has continued to gain momentum as one of the market’s top festivities. Continue reading

Coffee House Cafe is Steaming Hot

by Steven Doyle

As we reported first on craveDFW the Coffee House Café is open after ironing out the first week’s kinks in staff, and the kitchen is humming along in full swing.

The restaurant that is located on the south west corner of Frankford and Preston and owned by first time restaurateur Carrie Kelleher fills a niche in the area that lacks a proper breakfast, brunch and lunch menu. Indeed, this is all the Coffee House is serving at the moment.  Continue reading

Lauren Jones of The Hot Box

by Steven Doyle

As we roll through our list of categories for this summer’s People’s Choice Awards we pause to examine the new kid on the Dallas food block, the food truck. What was originally met with hellish disdain by the City of Dallas is now being revered (better late than never).

Opportunities for these trucks have opened wide and you may find these kitchens on wheels at most any outdoor event in the city. Some smarter truck owners have made valued alliances with bars and other non-restaurant type venues, such as the liquor store Sigel’s.  Continue reading
