Cantina Laredo’s Tamale Class

When I went into Cantina Laredo, I kept seeing “Modern Mexican” everywhere, so when I interviewed Rambo Saucedo, the chef teaching the lesson in tamales, I asked what he thought that meant. He said it means that they keep the flavors of the past, the traditional dishes and add a little more. It was my first time at Cantina Laredo and I went to their tamale-making class, but after being there and interacting with the staff, I will be back.

Galleria Dallas completes country’s tallest indoor Christmas Tree 

Starting Sunday, Galleria Dallas will begin the creation of what has become the most iconic holiday visual in the state of Texas: the construction of its 95-foot-tall Christmas tree, the tallest indoor holiday tree in the United States. This year, the tree is getting a facelift, with new branches, ornaments and transformative lighting that will show dazzling animations on the tree itself. Setup begins on Sunday, Nov. 5, for the massive evergreen, which has been a fixture at the shopping center for decades.

It takes a team of nearly 50 of Santa’s best elves five days to construct the tree. After the massive steel frame, which weighs five tons, goes up, teams will work to install 717 new branches, each of which is essentially a 3’ to 5’ tree. The new branches are fuller than the ones used in past years, and it took 14,000 shop hours to hand-sew twigs on them.

Chaplin the Musical at Addison’s WaterTower Theater

“You never know what’s going to happen with live theater” seemed to be the theme at the WaterTower Theater Saturday evening. During the fourth night of the run of “Chaplin the Musical,” which is based on Charlie Chaplin’s life, the show was paused for half an hour during the first act due to technical difficulties backstage, and then, a curtain mishap in the beginning fourth act hardly took away from the beautiful performances of the actors, in what could have been a disastrous night. The cast shined in the face of these difficulties, and one could hardly notice the mishaps as they performed brilliantly through them.

Margaret’s at the Marriott in Dallas Arts District

Margaret’s, the three-meal ranch-to-table restaurant at JW Marriott Dallas Arts District, unveils a new seasonal menu featuring autumnal flavors and ingredients. The restaurant is named for beloved Dallas philanthropist Margaret McDermott and is located on the 11th floor of the hotel which opened in July of 2023. The menu was designed by Executive Chef Jonah Friedmann and includes both new creations and several of the quickly-beloved dishes that debuted with the restaurant’s premiere menu earlier this year.

Portillio’s Opens in Arlington

Portillo’s, the fast-casual restaurant concept known for its menu of unrivaled Chicago street food, today announced its Arlington has officially opened its doors. This is Portillo’s third restaurant in the Dallas-Fort Worth market. On Tuesday, November 14 at 10:30 a.m., following a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:00 a.m.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony will include Portillo’s VP of Restaurant Support, Michael Portillo. During the ceremony, Portillo’s will also present its charity partners, Arlington ISD Education Foundation and Arlington Charities, with a check.

Gordon Ramsay Set to Open New Fish and Chips Restaurant in Dallas

Dallas is a city where the culinary scene is just as diverse as its population. Everything from smoky barbecue to soul food to Tex-Mex can be easily found, as well as award-winning restaurants from many different cuisines.
