Oak Cliff Wine Dinner at Mansion

by Steven Doyle

Have you tried Oak Cliff Cellars wine which has been aggressively marketing their wines through a series of dinners across the city of Dallas? The dinners are always well thought out locations at the best DFW restaurants. If you have not sampled any of the juice you can buy a bottle  at Bolsa Mercado.

Otherwise you can check out one of the dinners like the Mansion is hosting  next week.  This will sell out quickly, and they certainly do not need our help promoting this. But we thought this to be of particular interest to craveDFW readers.     Continue reading →

Making Your Own Charcuterie Class at Milestone

by Steven Doyle

Over the past few years the word ‘charcuterie’ has been bandied about quite a bit, and associated with a few very popular local chefs such as David Uygur owner of Lucia, Brian Luscher owner of Grape, and Kuby’s who has been cranking out fresh sausages for ages. In more recent months we have enjoyed Matt McCallister’s creations. We visited some of the old timers last year and caught a fantastic conversation as a few of the more seasoned chefs discussed their product.      Continue reading →

Meet The Truck: TX Delizioso

by Steven Doyle

There have been a slew of new food trucks popping up across both Dallas and Fort Worth giving anyone who follows the truck dining scene more options. When the food truck phenomenon  first began it looked like the stereotype to beat was the taco. There are plenty of plays on just about anything wrapped in a tortilla at any truck gathering, so many are now choosing to sway from a typical choice of fare.

Looking at what will be offered in the near future we have spoken with a few that will have some kicked up options and soon we will be enjoying our first Indian cuisine truck. But we ran across a truck this past weekend that at first glance appeared to be running the ordinary but upon closer inspection was nothing of the sort. Enter TX Delicioso a truck whose mainstay is pizza but offers much more.    Continue reading →

by Jayne M. Chobot      photos by Robert Bostick

Last night I had the absolute pleasure of attending my first Cafe Momentum pop-up dinner, held this time in the sleek and sexy Dee Lincoln’s Tasting Room and Bubble Bar on Cedar Springs Road. Hosting us were the truly lovely Ms. Dee Lincoln, Cafe Momentum co-founder Chef Chad Houser, Oak Cliff Cellars’s JR Richardson, and the guest Executive Chef of the evening, the very talented and charming Chef Juliard Ishizuka of the hosting venue.    Continue reading →

Tillamook Burger Week

by Steven Doyle

We will sign off any reason to try a great burger, and this week Tillamook provided just such an occasion. We are already knee deep in Tillamook’s Dallas Burger Week and you can find their cheeses layered on some of the city’s finest patties March 17-24, 2012.

What makes this whole Tillamook cheese week so special is that you are guaranteed to have delicious slices of real cheese oozing down the side of your burger instead of some odd science experiment.   Continue reading →

Zen Enters Cupcake Arena

by Steven Doyle

I am not really sure where the cupcake sits in the pastry line-up these days. This past weekend I had the opportunity to step into more than a few bakeries, each featured a cupcake, cake balls and other sweet treats like macarons. My personal affinity is towards the macaron, the power-packed tiny sweet sandwich made from meringue.    Continue reading →

Greenville Ave St Pat’s Parade Highlights

by Steven Doyle

Another legendary St Patrick’s Day weekend come and gone with out too many bumps or bruises. We had ace photographer Nick Bostick on the scene all day with a mission to grab some good action shots. While Nick was on the parade I finished up the day by checking out the street party on lower Greenville and set up camp at The Grape where owners Courtney and Brian Luscher were selling corny dogs and corned beef sliders to a famished crowd.               Continue reading →

Have a Safe and Happy St Pats

by Crave Staff

As we get ready for the weekend we wish to thank you for checking out our little website this week.  We considered throwing out a list of places to medicate your liver for  St Pats, but there are plenty of options and we want to get started in on the fun ourselves right away.  We have a crew of camera folks hitting the streets starting tonight, so if you see a craveDFW photog be sure to look extra inebriated.

Be safe and enjoy one of our favorite holidays of the year.  May the hinges of our friendship never grow rusty.
