East Hampton To Open In Snider Plaza

by Steven Doyle

Look for a new sandwich shop to open in Snider Plaza in the former Jiang’s Cuisine location. The name should be East Hampton and will open this summer.

For those keeping score at home, this as the spot John Tesar wanted for his Spoon’s concept that will now be located in Preston Center.

A new restaurant, SanabelS, just opened their doors in Addison in the former Ciao Chicago location at 15107 Addison Road. The owners are originally from Jordan, but have lived in the States for many years. Fortunately for guests at the new restaurant they haven’t forgotten how to cook.    Continue reading →

Ten Bells Tavern Now Open

by Steven Doyle

The new Oak Cliff bar and grill Ten Bells opened their doors this past weekend to a huge crowd of happy revelers. Last minute preparations including building a half dozen picnic tables and pouring a patterned concrete patio literally hours before opening Saturday afternoon.

The energy level was high as the opening celebration and was extremely pet friendly and featured a “pooch pool party and dog wash” fundraiser for Animal Rescue of Texas.              Continue reading →

A Preview For The Sēr-Curious

by Steven Doyle

Last evening I was an invited guest of the Hilton Anatole to sample a few of the dishes that might be making the Sēr Steak+Spirits menu when the restaurant opens for business this October. On hand was Anatole’s executive chef Thomas Welther and Sēr executive chef Anthony Van Camp who served dinner to a group of local writers and Hilton brass.

Due to construction on the 27th floor where Sēr is located the staff created a makeshift kitchen and dining room in the hotel’s rotunda, including a searing 800 degree grill just outside in view of the guests. Welther noted that he started working for the Anatole 2 years before Van Camp was born thus he was able to stay inside and engage the guests while the young executive chef labored in the heat and prepared dinner on the grill.         Continue reading →

First Look: Wicked Po Boys

by Steven Doyle

Something wicked this way comes.  We sat down with the owners of the Wicked Po Boys, Joey Le and Lan Chi Le. The couple soft opened the new restaurant today and will officially open with a full swing tomorrow (Wednesday, June 26, 2012).

The pair are definitely NOLAphiles and appreciate the intricacies of the food found in the Big Easy. We did all the press release fun yesterday, but today we went in for a First Look and have plenty of food photos and a fun Q&A with the owners.  Continue reading →

Wicked Po Boy Opening This Week

by Crave Staff

Inspired by the distinct flavors of New Orleans cuisine, husband and wife team, Joey Le and Lan Chi Le will open their first fast-casual concept, Wicked Po’Boys, in Richardson this Wednesday, June 27th.

After moving to Dallas, Chi realized how much she missed the authentic, hole-in-the wall po’boys during her college studies in New Orleans. The couple began working on recipes and sketching ideas for a restaurant. They eventually hired Plan B Group (Royce Ring and Alex Urrunaga) to assist them in defining the concept and Gin Braverman of Gin Designs to consult on design.                  Continue reading →

First Look: Pepper Smash

by Steven Doyle

Consider Pepper Smash to be Vijay Sadhu’s playful little cocktail den located in the Shops at Legacy in Plano. We took a look at the place while it was being built and gathered plenty of background, but today Pepper Smash is open and ready for business and we were hungry.

The atmosphere is built for comfort and the form takes full advantage of every nook in the smallish restaurant in true shotgun shack style. Hot woods and metals surround the atmosphere giving the new restaurant a clean updated vibe. A garage door allows the crowd to spill out onto the active parking lot inviting passerby’s to stop in for a look-see.         Continue reading →
