Top 6 Spots To Check Out Addison’s Kaboom Town Tonight

by Steven Doyle

Independence Day is upon us and we plan to celebrate in grand fashion, which means the staff can sleep in tomorrow, hit the lake and hopefully work on that much needed tan. In the mean time we will all no doubt be celebrating tonight to get a head start on the party and fireworks. Addison’s Kaboom Town provides one of the most spectacular shows in the area, and is ranked one of the top in the nation.

We give all the fun details about the choreographed music and band stands set up in Addison, but we also wanted to share with you today some of the best views to watch the airshow and fireworks. You will want to head out early and stake your claim to a sweet spot. If you are off work early today you can beat the rush to some of these locations which we selected as the very best.             Continue reading

Small Plates At Snack

by Steven Doyle

Sometimes when you are out dining you simply want a snack. Small plates is actually my favorite way to dine, you get so many different flavors packed into one meal. If variety is the spice of life then Snack Global Kitchen and Bar is a whole lot of living.

As we had mentioned in our first look at Snack, it is a global kitchen, which basically means the kitchen staff can create anything they wish and be as imaginative as possible. This is genius.

We stopped into Snack late Sunday evening just before closing and the staff was winding down from a busy day. Sous chef Cody Sharp was at the helm and we are always pleased to see this firecracker of a chef. After graduating from Cordon Bleu Sharp took his first line position at Rockwall’s Restaurant Ava and simultaneously started working part time for Katherine Clapner at Dude, Sweet Chocolate in Bishop Arts.       Continue reading

The Day Begins: “At War With the Mystics” for Breakfast

by Dr. Spin

Two summers ago, I took a Japanese language course, which was horizon-expanding. Last summer, CrossFit was a bit more globally life-changing. This year’s summer project wasn’t as intentionally planned as those at the outset, but it is emerging, nonetheless: roll around on the floor with my baby daughter and try to see the world through her eyes.  As we are discovering that drink coasters have a front and a back and that bubbles don’t hurt when they pop, I keep finding the tuneful, psychedelic, but ultimately positive, music of the Flaming Lips to be somehow appropriate.  Find more tuneful flaming lips at the Pharmacy…

The energy level was high as the opening celebration and was extremely pet friendly and featured a “pooch pool party and dog wash” fundraiser for Animal Rescue of Texas.              Continue reading

Hypnotic Donuts Inviting Guest Chefs For Month of July

by Steven Doyle

We love Hypnotic Donuts in East Dallas. They are so fresh, original and fun. In the month of July they play to get even more playful by inviting different chefs into the bakery to play. The first chef will be underground wizard David Anthony Temple. It will be interesting to see what the wunderkind comes up with at hypnotic. Guest chefs will start in July.
