New Years Eve is definitely the spark that lights the path for the upcoming year and 2018 will definitely be one for the record book. Look for bright food trends and amazing new restaurants that will be serving more plant-based proteins, bold ethnic flavors and street food, greater emphasis on both children’s meals (definitely untapped in Dallas) and breakfast, under-utilized meats and vegetables, offal and of course the burger will take an even stronger hold on the city.

Holidays Means The Capital Grille (Contest!)

It doesn’t seem like Christmas without a visit to The Capital Grille. They are decked out for the holidays with their own brand of extra fantastic service, over-the-top plates of beef served just about any way you could imagine, and the requisite seafood displayed in a way that will make you gasp with delight and fulfilled expectations.

Our recent visit was as expected. In the bar were several parties unwrapping and laughing, in the atrium families waiting for tables and throughout the dining room  happy guests were in full-on celebration mode. It is Christmas, indeed. Continue reading

A Look At the New Menu at 18th and Vine

We had mentioned earlier this month that Scott and Gina Gottlich had taken over 18th and Vine, the upscale barbecue themed restaurant located at 4100 Maple Avenue in Dallas, and we stopped in last week for a visit to see how this affected the menu.
