Boulevardier Now Open Saturday and Sunday For Brunch

boulevardier1by Steven Doyle

One of our very favorite brunch spots is in Bishop Arts. Now you can enjoy Boulevardier’s brunch on Saturday, too. It is difficult finding a decent Saturday brunch in Dallas, one that is not just a lunch menu with mimosas.

The brunch menu includes popular items such as Legs and Eggs (crisp duck leg confit, sunny side-up duck eggs, Homestead stone-ground grits cake, huckleberry sauce), Steak Frites and Eggs (wood grilled hanger steak, two eggs your way, hand-cut French fries, sauce béarnaise), Tate Farms burger (house bacon, fried farm egg, gruyere, caramelized onion, house pickles, pain au lait bun) and more.     Continue reading

Lockhart Has Beef Ribs Today

lockhartby Steven Doyle

After viewing this photo of today’s beef ribs at Lockhart, unless you are infirm or out of state, there is simply no decent reason not to join them for lunch today. I chewed half way through my USB cable lusting after this one.

Brew Riot 2013 Video Recap

DSC07836The 2013 version of Brew Riot was held once again in the Bishop Arts District in Oak Cliff. This is where over 60 home brewers gather and sample out their finest. Also showing support were many of the local brewers such as Peticolas, Deep Ellum Brewing Company, and Four Corners who actually got their start by competing at the sudsy festival.

We splashed our way through the event, and enjoyed some pretty terrific beers. Several of the home brewers will be announcing that they will join the ranks of nearly 20 breweries that opened in North Texas within the past few years.   Continue reading

What is special about today? One of our favorite hidden gems in the Bishop Arts District is Ten Bells Tavern where they continue to throw down with some pretty awesome food that happens to be in a bar. The kitchen is ever so tiny, but the flavors are huge. Continue reading

Happy Chefsgiving: Will Fleischman

by Steven Doyle

Thanksgiving is upon us once again and all the gobblers are running for cover. To get you in the mood for a little fun and relaxation we asked a few chefs around Dallas a some questions so we get our dinner cooked just right. We will run their answers both today and tomorrow, so check back often to see how your favorite chef weighs in on the holiday.

Will Fleischman is the pit master and chef at Lockhart Smokehouse in the Bishop Arts District. He was featured as one of the top ten pit masters in the United States by Southern Living Magazine and has cooked around the world. Think of Will as a thinking man’s chef who has an affinity for post oak.

Don’t let Will’s deadpan humor or enormous beard frighten you away, the man is very approachable and entertaining. Continue reading

Boulevardier’s Bountiful Brunch

by Steven Doyle

Boulevardier has enjoyed its first successful quarter as the hot, new French bistro in Bishop Arts. It is the first of several such bistros that will be opening soon, and chef-owner Nathan Tate of Restaurant Ava fame is busily cranking out some fantastic plates of pretty and bountiful bistro fare. We have enjoyed the interesting oysters brought in each week, as well as the hearty plates of lamb’s neck and bouillabaisse. The ration of fantastic starters are refreshing and thoughtful.

We like and enjoy Boulevardier, and now they went and added a Sunday brunch that beckoned us this week. Now we know Tate has mastered the egg.  Continue reading
