Acme F&B To Become Beer Garden

acme2by Steven Doyle

Acme F&B released their wunderkind chef Norman Grimm as they begin to re-concept the brand into a more casual beer-centric bar with food.  I confirmed the news with Brooke Humphries this morning and she said that she wanted to get back to her roots and do what they do best.

The space will indeed be a beer garden. “We have 36 taps, a great patio,” Humphries wrote to us, “we will have good food with a lower price point. I’m not a sea bass person, I am more a Waygu burger bacon jam and redneck cheddar or flatbread kinda bar person, ya know?”  Continue reading

Patrizio Fort Worth Closed *Update

patrizioby Steven Doyle

We learned this weekend that the Fort Worth version of Patrizio shuttered after being locked out by the landlord. Owner Ed Bailey was in the midst of renegotiating the lease when they received word Saturday that the building had been locked up for non-payment of rent.

The Fort Worth store was located at 2932 Crockett Street. This closure does not affect any other Patrizio locations.

*Update: The Fort Worth location is back in business.

Last Saturday I was in Holy Ravioli and noticed the space next door was being renovated with plenty of signage stating that Chiladas would soon occupy the space. Today we get further confirmation in an email from their agency that they are indeed moving to the Park Cities location at 4448 Lovers Lane in the space formerly occupied by Mango Thai.  Continue reading

Steve and Brandy Spence met each other in their fourth year at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. He always knew he wanted to own his own restaurant and went to the CIA to get the total understanding of how restaurants work. Brandy, on the other hand, wanted to be a surgeon and was pre-med at the University of Texas in Austin when the restaurant bug bit her. She went to her father and claimed she wanted to be a chef. Being the good father, he helped her find the best culinary school in the United States.   Continue reading

The Second Floor At Marquee To Transition Into Sushi

sushiby Steven Doyle    photo by Joey Stewart

Just weeks ago we learned that Marquee chef Tre Wilcox was leaving the restaurant he helped open, and the restaurant hired former Fairmont Hotel chef Andre Natera. Nataera started as chef at the beginning of February and has been doing a fantastic job as top toque, working with Tre’s menu for the time being and putting out some amazing specials that are being trialed for the new menu which should roll out very soon. Even bigger news is what will become of the second floor that the owners announced would be transitioned into a separate restaurant. There has been plenty of speculation.   Continue reading
