DSC04829by Steven Doyle

2012 was a fantastic year for the Dallas craft brew scene. So many up and coming brewers took to the streets replacing taps across North Texas and beyond. Now I know the electric thrill that must have been buzzing during the great space race to see which country might land on the moon. In the beer world we all end up being winners.

This week Lakewood Brewing Company shipped their first ration of bottles to area stores and met with great success. We created a buying guide for those wanting to sample a few bottles this weekend.    Continue reading

Duke’s Original Roadhouse closed its doors in Addison today. Duke’s is known for their outrageous stunts such as “midget wrestling” and their annual turkey bowling, along with other antics to fill its halls. This was a popular hangout for the gentleman bikers which often filled the parking lot with their hogs on the weekends.   Continue reading

Mockingbird Taproom Officially Open

wingsby Steven Doyle

Last night the owners of Mockingbird Taproom finally held their grand opening just shy of a month in business and we were among the invited many who sampled their way through the menu of burgers, wings, tacos and various other kicked up versions of bar food. In addition to a large and well executed food menu, the Taproom boasts a fabulous brew list, with choices from all across North Texas and beyond.

This is another Restaurant America location. You know these guys from Chicago, they are single-handedly attempting to take over Dallas one restaurant at a time. They also own Primebar in Uptown and Park Tavern in the Shops at Park Lane. Both of these locations do superb business and for just reason. They also own the Townhouse Kitchen in the Galleria which has been altered several times, but still suffers from poor service and an even poorer menu.       Continue reading

Maharaja’s Feast At Samar Jan 23

samar1by Steven Doyle

Stephan Pyle’s Samar is one of my very favorite restaurants. It reflects on how I dine, or like to dine. I do not normally sit down in front of a giant haunch of beef, in fact the last steakhouse I went to I appreciated the fish of the day.  How I do like to dine is with a group of friends surrounded by more than a few plates of food, paired with fantastic drinks or a good bottle of wine.           Continue reading
