Gin Mill Beer Dinner Weds Dec 5

The Gin Mill hosts a winter-inspired beer dinner Wednesday, December 5, 7:00 p.m. featuring Stone Brewing Co.  from San Diego, CA and local brewer Franconia Brewery of McKinney, TX.

Two select brews from each brewery will be paired with 4 pub-inspired courses.  Cost is $35 per person, excluding gratuity, tax and additional beverages.  This is a true beer bargain. Continue reading

Urban Taco Celebrates Twelve Days of Tamales

You know each year we love on the almighty tamale and 2012 will certainly be no different. Please be sure to send us your favorites so we might taste and report on all of the very best tamales this year.

The first strike this tamale season is from Urban Taco who each year makes a delicious new tamale daily leading up to Christmas in what they call the Twelve Days of Tamales. Celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau This Friday Nov 30

Sponsored by the French American Chamber of Commerce of Dallas/Fort Worth (FACC), the Festival not only includes Beaujolais Nouveau, but additional French and American wines. Wines will provide a taste from Alsace, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Loire Valley, Rhône Valley, California, Washington and Texas vintages.

This year’s Festival takes place on Friday, Nov. 30 from 7 to 9:30pm, at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas (ICCLC), being the first FACC event to be held in Irving and will host more than 2,000 attendees expected at what has now become the largest Beaujolais & Beyond Wine Festival in the U.S.       Continue reading

Acme F&B Looking Grimm

Being known as a food lover amongst your peers means that you are regularly asked where to dine in Dallas. Last week I had the pleasure of enjoying a meal with friends at Acme F&B and I can safely say this is one restaurant you don’t want to miss.

Upon entering the large front doors I was immediately greeted not only by the hostess, but also by a wonderful and enticing aroma that filled the air. I made my way to the bar in the back, enjoying the thoughtful and warm décor anchored by a large fireplace in the middle of an open dining room. The patio area is also very spacious, this night I opted for the cozy grouping of armchairs near the fireplace.     Continue reading

Babb Brothers BBQ Opens In Trinity Groves Nov 29

Saturday evening Dallas had a glimpse into the first strike restaurant in the Trinity Groves area of West Dallas located at the foot of the new Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge.  The night brought a foreshadowing of Babb Brothers BBQ which opens to the public Thursday, November 29, 2012. The large structure serves as the BBQ headquarters for Trinity Groves, the first of many restaurants and entertainment venues that will make up the new area created by restaurateur Phil Romano and company.       Continue reading

Pop Up Bar Benefits Trigger’s Toys

The bartending community in North Texas is particularly active with charitable causes and it doesn’t take much prodding for the members of the local bartending guild to step up into action. Look for their latest venture and pop up bar December 18, 2012 from 8pm to 1am. Mudsmith To Open On Lower Greenville In Dec

From Brooke Humphries and Brianna Larson who brought you Barcadia and now full owners of Acme F&B, look for a new venture to be located at 2114 Greenville Avenue. Mudsmith will be an elevated coffee house serving FourBarrel Coffee from San Francisco.
