Café des Artistes Slated To Open In One Arts Plaza

I didn’t want to jump on the feeding frenzy at One Arts Plaza, but I just got a press release earlier this afternoon I thought I would share. CraveDFW normally steers clear of stories that are buzzing around the net and more often than not try to generate our content from scratch.

However you might like to read a portion of this release that discusses Lombardi’s attempt to take over the world. Well at least a small part of the Dallas restaurant world.         Continue reading

Moonshine Shenanigans With Bartender Ashley Williams

by Steven Doyle

Last night at the Ryan Barnett underground dinner I was served by a familiar face. Ashley Williams who I had seen previously as bartender at several restaurants including Bailey’s and now Bistro 31 where she met chef Ryan. Ashley is this fantastic bartender who worked under one of the local cocktail masters, Lucky Campbell.

While she was just perfect at pouring our BYOB wine and settling up the silverware for each course, I had something else in mind for the young bartender.            Continue reading

One Last Look At Craft Dallas Before It Closes

by Steven Doyle

I had the good fortune to dine at Craft Dallas in the W Hotel earlier this week. I was planning on saving the photos and run an au revoir story the week they close their doors in August, but I am thinking I should entice, no, incite you to stop in for a final meal at this wonderful Dallas restaurant.

When I was working at the Observer’s City of Ate I interviewed Chef Jeff Harris who is now at Bolsa in Oak Cliff. Then I was able to check out the kitchen, which is as massive as you might think a hotel kitchen should be. There is something magical to me to experience the backbone of a restaurant up close and I am always personally drawn to the kitchen when accessable. Ryan Barnett’s Underground Euphorium Goes French

by Steven Doyle

Taking my own recommendation, I joined a band of merry diners at the newest of the underground chef dinners offered at the not-so-secret location in Deep Ellum on the corner of Malcolm X and Elm. There a small group of food enthusiasts gathered with their own bottles of wines served by the staff of chef Ryan Barnett.

You may recall from previous articles here on craveDFW that Barnett is a talented and trained chef that is originally from the Dallas area (Hillcrest High for those keeping score at home) who has worked at some excellent venues in this city including Neighborhood Services as sous chef.                   Continue reading

Quest for the Ultimate Burger: Beck’s Prime

by Rob Banes

This week’s burger quest took our group to the recently opened Beck’s Prime. The location at the northwest corner of Preston and Forest is the 13th location of Beck’s Prime to open and the first in the Dallas area. The restaurant is a fast casual restaurant with a menu featuring mesquite grilled burgers, sandwiches, grilled meat plates, salads and steaks.

The Dallas location has taken over a former Jack in the Box and they did a good job of adding a patio as well making the inside warm and inviting with the open dining room and hardwood flooring.            Continue reading
