Cafe Brazil Closing McKinney Location

by Steven Doyle

Cafe Brazil is announcing the closure of their McKinney store, located at 3190 South Central Expressway in McKinney, Texas.

“We have enjoyed a great 7-year run and thank everyone who has been a part of it,” says Brant Wood, Chairman and CEO of Cafe Brazi. “Our lease expires at the end of this month, and unfortunately, we were unable to come to an agreement with the landlord that will allow us to operate profitably. Our last day of operations will be Sunday, July 29. We hope to replace this location somewhere in the area in the near future. Until then, customers can visit us at any of our other 10 Metroplex locations including Plano and Richardson.”      Continue reading →

by Steven Doyle

The first restaurant to actually receive shipment of the brand was Malai Kitchen where Kosmas is the consulting barman. This week Malai announced their new summer cocktail menu designed by Kosmas where he uses his spirits in a few of the potent potables.     Continue reading →

When A Bartender Becomes A Gentleman Farmer

by Steven Doyle

Rocco Milano has pulled a Green Acres on us. Milano is the engaging barmen at Private Social and until recently he lived very close to the Uptown restaurant where he works. Now his commute is a bit longer as he drives in from his 60-acre farm in Valley View just north of Denton.

“Yesterday I spent about 10 hours digging and dropping in a bunch of fruit bearing trees. I have a bunch of berry shrubs I am putting in next. I have this spectacular herb garden. Right now the chocolate mint is flourishing like you can’t imagine,” said Milano, “How cool is that to see these plants grow from a seed and take them to the final product?”

Last week we announced that Hypnotic Donuts was inviting guest chefs to create a donut or something to offer their donut eating clientele. First at bat was David Anthony Temple, or better known as Chef DAT the underground chef.

DAT decided to play with the chicken and biscuits that Hypnotic is already so good at creating. This version would play homage to DAT’s childhood where he has been eating this kicked up version of the biscuit since he was seven years old.    Continue reading →
