Greenville Ave Londoner Launch This Weekend

londoner3by Steven Doyle

The Londoner Pub, a traditional British pub with several locations around the Metroplex, will celebrate its new home on Greenville Avenue with a launch party Saturday, February 23.  Themed a “British Invasion” the event will embrace and share all things British.  Partygoers will enjoy live music by A Hard Night’s Day – a Beatle’s tribute band; English signature cocktails, craft English beer, and pub fare.

The Londoner Pub has been the go-to venue for soccer matches; craft beer and English fare since Barry Tate opened his first Dallas pub in 1990.  Mr. Tate’s newest location in Dallas has settled in the historic Greenville Bar and Grill location originally established in 1933.        Continue reading →

Sharon Hage To Consult With The LOT To Open On East Grand

hageby Jennifer Thomas

Longtime restaurateur John McBride has teamed up with culinary consultant Sharon Hage and designer Hatsumi Kuzuu to open a new concept in the heart of East Dallas. Set to debut on Monday, February 25th, The LOT will be part American restaurant serving genuine fare, part neighborhood beer garden pouring Texas beers, and part casual gathering place for all to enjoy.

“We have revived the best lot in town, a tranquil, two-acre spot designed with unique common spaces to ensure everyone feels welcome,” says managing partner John McBride, whose family started and previously owned and operated El Fenix. “The idea is to create a modern-day third place, giving our neighbors a new place to unwind and savor a meal that’s unique and extraordinary — a place they can call their own.”    Continue reading →

Second Floor Bistro To Host Cocktail Class

cocktails 040by Steven Doyle

The cocktail has gone through much transition in Dallas over the past few years. The word craft cocktail almost became an evil term for anything over-the-top sweet, $20 and 20 minutes later. But in more recent times we have seen fantastic bartenders honing their craft in North Texas, and we actually have an amazing reputation for some of the very best in this region of the country. Our bartenders compete nationally in competitions, and win. They are asked to host symposiums throughout the country, and revered as tops in their field. We are fortunate that way.   Continue reading →

When Organic Farmers Gather

DSCF6679by Marie Tedei

Arriving last week in Austin at the state’s biggest gathering of organic Texas farmers and ranchers started out like usual; like “old home week”. The TOFGA (Texas Organic Farmers and Gardeners Assoc.), conference attracts veteran farmers and ranchers of all acreage sizes, wanna-be ranchers, backyard home gardeners and supporters of the entire Texas organic food chain. Many see each other but once a year for this annual conference. As stewards of nature, vacations are few, so many look forward to this event for more reasons than one. A newly born piglet even got to come along for the trip as he was a bottle baby – not to be left at the local kennel.   Continue reading →
