Lightcatcher Winery and Bistro has built a strong reputation for its atmosphere and for its wine so it seemed like a natural stop in my search for good Texas wine. So we loaded up into the car and made the trek to far north Fort Worth to drive into their winery facility.
First impression of the facility was that it felt “Texan” in the layout and decor. Walking in the front door, you are hit by a jazz theme. This makes sense when you find out they have Jazz Sundays twice a month. 3 hours of jazz for $10 per person might be interesting if the food and wine hold up. Continue reading

A garden of Eden lies within the city, nestled in a cozy, quiet nook on W. Lovers Lane. Outside hangs a ceramic sign adorned with beautiful flowers with “Eden” written in a bright sunny yellow. Yet with the brutal heat we’ve been having, somehow the flowers still bloomed strong, the grass a plushy green and upon entering you feel as if you’ve just returned home. And how truly wonderful it felt to be back. Continue reading

The Common Table, a cozy gastro-pub located on Fairmount, features gourmet bar fare with great affordable wines and beers to pair. Chef Mike Smith will be joining us this week with his Blackened Chicken with Black Pepper Grits topped with a Fried Egg and Cajun Hollandaise.
In the words of Chef Smith: “It will treat a hangover like a bouncer treats a frat boy — it’ll kick it to the curb!” Amen to that brother. Continue reading

We have reported a few times on the really innovative Sunday Brunch at Hotel ZaZa in uptown that is always a blast for those not quite ready to stop the party for the weekend. As ZaZa and the Sunday Brunch continues each month Executive chef Dan Landsberg and chef de cuisine Bradford Hodgkins have been looking for ways to elevate not only the party but the cuisine being served.
We just caught up with the pair of chefs as they each returned from their summer vacation, looking tan and fit and ready to hunker down in the kitchen. The ZaZa kitchen wizards were eager to tell us about the new ideas they have for the wacky fun brunch that is like no other in Dallas. Continue reading
