Although a bit hot this has been a terrific week of dining in Dallas. We go eclectic on you today, even though we did have our share of pork belly and foie gras. This should ultimately prove we are not food snobs.

It has been a full year for Café Momentum. This week we shared with the joys of the young organization as it lifted up its accomplishments with the same beaming happiness that any proud mother or father might. This past Sunday there were big announcements, bigger surprises and shared joy for each who attended the full-circle dinner with Café Momentum’s first guest chef, Jeffrey Hobbs at his new restaurant, Sissy’s Southern Kitchen and Bar.
Some of the surprises included a fat check from Whole Foods after they earmarked a percentage of a single day’s profit from their Lakewood store. The check would total $4413.00, but was raised to an even $5000 by an exuberant guest. Café Momentum has many of generous guests like this couple as they get ever closer to their goal in raising enough funds to open a brick and mortar restaurant to support these boys in their hour of need. An inspiring story comes from Lochgilphead, Scotland, home to 9-year old school cafeteria critic and international blogger, Martha Payne. Martha’s story is an inspiring one. She started writing her blog as an exercise and she enjoyed chatting about her lunches. But what happened in the short 6 weeks the blog, which is called NeverSeconds, is shocking.

We are bringing you some images from another successful year at Savor Dallas. This year Jim White and Vicki Briley-White were in rare form offering events across the city tht benefited a variety of groups including Les Dames d’Escoffier and other worthwhile charitable groups.
Regardless of which event you chose to participate in Savor Dallas 2012 proved to be a unquestionable success. The weather cooperated, bringing loads of sunshine and gentle breezes to Friday’s Art District Stroll where guests noshed on tasty nibbles from area restaurants, sipped a whole host of wines, beers and spirits as the great crowd meandered through the District’s venues.
