Adelmo’s Ristorante and La Cave Wine Boutique are hosting a special wine dinner with special guest and winemaker Stefano Liuzzi of Cascina Liuzzi, an Italian winery which opened in 2001 when when Liuzzi’s father and mother decided to purchase a farmhouse in the middle of the vineyards located in Nizza Monferrato, Italy. Since the beginning, Liuzzi cared for his vineyards, enjoying being close to nature.

Liuzzi will be on hand at this marvelous dinner Wednesday May 2, 2018 at 7pm where guests will enjoy six courses and six wines for a meager cost of $68pp. The menu is beautiful as detailed below. Make your reservations by calling Adelmo at 214-559-0325. Continue reading →

We Love Being In The Dog Haus

DSC02861by Steven Doyle

It was just a few years ago that hot dogs were quite the fashion plate, but competition was fierce and as fast as many arrived on the scene, all delicious and crave worthy, they vanished seemingly overnight. A fairly new doggery to the Dallas landscape that has been a proven concept for eight years which first opened in Pasadena made its entry this past year and has been building a strong following in Richardson. Meet Dog Haus.  Continue reading →

PL8 Is An Interesting Blend Of Art And Food

pl8.jpgby Steven Doyle

A visit to the old Fat Rabbit location, now home to a very upgraded and very stylized adult restaurant PL8 that seems to wish to break the pub feel of Uptown that appears to be adulting more and more with each new concept that moves in. PL8 is a dizzying malange of menu items that may have you questioning the direction of the restaurant until you learn that the imported chef Long has worked across the globe and is adept at cuisines such as Malaysian, Indian, Mediterranean and much more. This reflects on the menu and once tasted you will get it.

The atmosphere is grown up and we were told that they are no longer open late nights, so this fits in with the very bright look of the white wood floors and emphasis on local art, which all is for sale. Think of Pl8 as a galleria with a cool menu.   Continue reading →

The team behind The Woolworth open their newest concept Smithy at 2927 N Henderson Ave for dinner service tonight.

Smithy encourages guests to mingle, share, live and dine all while sharing in the experience of crafted, modern, but approachable food and drink.

Opened for dinner with lunch and brunch planned for the near future, Chef Ronald Von Hatten defines his offerings as shared plates, and unique eats. The menu flirts with global influences but ingredients you will know. Co-owner Brandon Luke says, “Influences such as Asian, French, Mexican and American will keep you guessing on what to order or share. Our menu keeps guest favorites but rotates seasonal items three times a year. This allows us to keep our offerings interesting and follow trends during the year.” Continue reading →

Sake Bomb World Record Set by Frisco’s Sushi Marquee

DSC02971by Steven Doyle

Sake bombs are these cool shots comprised of sake and beer. To create the bomb you hover a shot glass of sake above a small portion of beer with the assistance of chopsticks. Slam the table and the sake erupts into the beer for a moment of joy as you slam the liquids and scream “bonzai”. Seems simple enough, that is until you wish to do this with 239 friends simultaneously.  Continue reading →

Tacos and Tequila Tour April 14

20110424-tacos-morelos - 11by Steven Doyle

I rarely ever talk about personal business on craveDFW but I want to share a little story that, to me, is a bit fun and involves history.

Eight years ago I had an idea that was born from my weekly habit of taking friends around Dallas for mini food tours. We would start about noon and bounce around town sampling various dishes that I thought were relevant that week. These were always fun and involved simple bites shared at maybe four or five hot spots around town. Continue reading →
