After much anticipation, Greenville Avenue Pizza Company is finally ready to unveil its new restaurant at the corner of Garland Road and Peavy Road. One of our very favorite patisseries is Haute Sweets at 10230 East Northwest Highway in East Dallas. This fairly new bakery is steeped up with delicious pastries such as macarons, specialty cakes, cookies, and cupcakes. They also feature some tasty paleo and vegan items for those so inclined.
Each month Haute Sweets rolls out their red carpet and features Coffee & Beignets on starting at 10am continuously until they sell out. The last beignet event for 2015 is this weekend, March 11, 2017. Continue reading

Smoky Rose is a chef-driven smokehouse in a relaxed garden setting will open this winter at 8602 Garland Road in Dallas (across from The Dallas Arboretum).
The new neighborhood-dining destination aims to provide a comfortable experience with a relaxed interior, large patio, open smokehouse and beautifully landscaped garden area serving lunch and dinner. The rustically refined menu is paired with thoughtfully selected wines and local beers.

Urbano Cafe in East Dallas (at 1410 N. Fitzhugh) is now serving beer and wine, though also BYOB as well. Nothing changes for those who want to bring their wine, but Urbabo will also have craft and local beers on tap, plus a great, well-priced list of wines. There is a PDF of the list below.
Urbano is kicking off their new list this week, and holding a Merry Edwards wine tasting next Monday, Nov. 9, from 6:30-8 p.m. Cost is $15 per person, and light bites will be provided. For residents of East Dallas the thought of developing Boy Scout Hill near White Rock Lake seemed sacrilegious. In a meeting back in December of 2013 members of the White Rock Lake Task Force were presented plans to develop the 12 square mile area. Architect Lyle Burgin and attorney Richard Kopf relayed information that they plan to build a restaurant on a patch of Boy Scout Hill. Neighbors of the park were none too pleased.
Although Mayor Mike Rawlins did not express an opinion of support at that time, it has been evident that he has been eager to develop White Rock for many years. Continue reading

On our adventure to fined excellent seafood in Dallas during this time of Lent, we found a restaurant that is steeped up in seafood. Although not a traditional seafood restaurant, Genaro’s opened for business in November of 2013 and serves up a healthy amount of seafood with traditional Yucatan and Tex Mex-style offerings. The restaurant is owned and operated by Chef Genaro Silva. You may know Silva from such restaurants as Genaro’s Tropical, Moctezuma’s, Garmo’s which he operated as far back as the 1980’s. They also had the bent towards fresh seafood.

Many of you have experienced the amazing patio offerings at Goodfriend Beer Garden and Burger House. They have been open just over a year in their East Dallas digs, and have been crazy busy selling their amazing selection of brews and those killer burgers made by the crew next door at Good 2 Go Taco. There is a little pass through that enables Goodfriend to take all the credit for those burgers, but they are really being cranked out by chefs Jeana Johnson and Colleen O’Hare.
We just received word that there are a few new menu items at Goodfriend, and we will be heading over there this evening to graze through the offerings. Continue reading
