Nestled in the vibrant heart of Deep Ellum, Dallas, Culpepper Cattle Company is not just a restaurant—it’s an experience. Imagine a place where the Old West meets modern dining, where hearty Texan flavors collide with a hip, urban vibe. That’s Culpepper Cattle Company in a nutshell, or perhaps more fittingly, in a well-seasoned cast iron skillet.
As most know, we are partial; to Truluck’s in Dallas. That said, something new has been added. To meet growing demand from customers and an ever-expanding market, Truluck’s has just opened its doors on a third Metroplex location in Plano. This beloved seafood haven has found its new home at The Shops at Legacy, 7161 Bishop Rd. in Plano. Truluck’s newest location offers an inviting ambiance, accommodating 140 guests within its refined dining room and a private dining and group dining space that accommodates up to 30 guests will also be available. Leading the Executive team is Tambra Tatum, General Manager; Justin Valladarez, Chef; and Vanessa Sbraga, Sales & Events Manager.
Located at the bottom floor of the AT&T building at 208 S Akard and attached directly to the massive Discovery District, Hawthorn Sushi, Steak and Seafood sprawls deep into its space offering just what its name implies with a sushi counter and open kitchen for steaks and seafood.
The last time CraveDFW featured Ocean Prime we showcased the huge Red King Crab legs that had just been flown in from Bristol Bay. As this was over two years ago, we thought it was time to head back and see how it’s keeping up with all the competing seafood spots that have opened in Dallas since that report.
Ocean Prime Uptown is one of sixteen locations across the states and boasts a menu that features items like sushi and poke, indulgent seafood entrees, prime steaks, desserts, signature cocktails, and a Wine Spectator-honored wine list.
The dark, retro dining room is still packed with well-heeled guests, the service is stellar from start to finish, and each dish we tasted was expertly cooked. In short, it hasn’t missed a step. We chose to sit in the more relaxed and bright “Terrace,” which allows for a casual dining experience.

Most probably do not consider department store dining to be all that exceptional, when in fact we have several hot restaurants tucked away in the back of some of our finer purveyors for skirts and shoes. We have written about Neiman’s Zodiacmore than a few times and they have been treating Dallasites to delicious fare for over 65 years.
Located in NorthPark Center at Nordstrom find a hot little gem called Bazille, which otherwise is known as the grill. There you will find delicious sandwiches, soups, pizzas, roasted fish, steaks and hearty pasta dishes. There are also delicate spa foods to be found for those with lighter appetites. How The Grill on the Alley escaped us in the past is beyond our comprehension. The restaurant located just outside the Dallas Galleria has quietly been serving up some classic dishes, along with some of the best steaks and seafood that can be found in Dallas for the past 9 years.
The restaurant, which originally hails from Beverly Hills, is a throw- back to more refined times when big dishes were served with expert care. Continue reading →
