Joy Grazes Through The New Brunch At Marquee

by Joy Jangle

Sundays are awesome for several reasons: you can laze around, nurse the pain from the night before, and my personal favorite: Brunch! It had been awhile since I’ve stopped by Marquee Grill, a lady can only stay away for so long….   Continue reading →

A Look At Vijay Sadhu’s Pepper Smash

by Steven Doyle

We checked out Vijay Sadhu’s latest dining concept yesterday in his old Sutra location in Plano’s Shops at Legacy. Pepper Smash looks to be a perfect combination of cool craft cocktails, tasty bites and a load of whimsical fun.

There is no doubt that Sadhu can cook. He has proven his chops time and again from his stints at restaurants such as Clay Pit in Addison (back when it was actually good), Bukhara Grill in Richardson, and the James Beard nominated Samar by Stephan Pyles.    Continue reading →

Inwood Tavern Celebrates 48 Years In Business

by Jerry Stewart

I personally enjoy a good neighborhood bar. Some are more divey than others, but the elements are all straight: relaxed and unpretentious, cheap drinks and a loud crowd. Throw in a world class juke box and you have described Nirvana to me. This weekend just such a bar is celebrating its 48th year in business, you can help cheer them on for another 48 by checking out Inwood Tavern’s bash Friday, June 1, 2012 starting at 7:30.      Continue reading →

Meet Central 214’s Lead Bartender Amber West

by Steven Doyle

As we have reported in the past, changes have occurred at Central 214 with the addition of Graham Dodds in the kitchen bringing his own remarkable spin on the farm to table cooking. Along with his wonderful menu (and we take a look at the latest incarnation of this menu early next week) Dodds  also recruited a special bartender, Amber West.

West comes from an incredible culinary family. You may recognize her brother Adam West most recently at ZaZa’s Dragonfly in Dallas, and since promoted as the executive chef at Monarch in Houston. Both siblings in the West family appreciate farm fresh ingredients and seek them out with enthusiasm.    Continue reading →

P.F. Chang’s Subject To Leveraged Buyout

By Judy Chamberlain

In what will be the largest leveraged buyout of a restaurant chain since the 2010 transaction that brought a $4.2 billion price tag to Burger King holdings, P .F. Chang’s China Bistro is scheduled to be taken private in mid-June when private equity firm Centerbridge Partners pays P. F. Chang’s shareholders $51.50 a share in a  $1.1 billion deal.

The chain, founded by Paul Fleming chef Philip Chiang, first opened in Scottsdale, Arizona, in 1993, offering Western-influenced Asian food at reasonable prices. It owns numerous company stores in the United States and sells licensing agreements in international markets. Fast-casual Pei Wei’s Asian Diner, which originated in Dallas, is part of the mix.    Continue reading →

Prepare For Margarita Meltdown Tonight With $5 Ritas

by Steven Doyle

We have been touting this weekend’s Margarita Meltdown (Sunday, May 27th, 3pm) with vigor for a few reasons. Besides the fact we are sponsors of the event, we also happen to enjoy a fantastic margarita.

You can prepare for this event tonight by stopping in one of the many participating bars or restaurants. The list of participants is growing with lightening fast momentum. If you are a bartender in Dallas, Texas and can’t make a decent margarita perhaps it is time to select another industry. Thankfully we have some very special entries in this competition where you are the judge.    Continue reading →
