Fearing Celebrates Five Years

by Steven Doyle

Guests swarmed the Dallas Ritz-Carlton Hotel to help celebrate Chef Dean Fearing’s fifth anniversary of the move from his legendary stint at the Mansion to open his own namesake restaurant Fearing’s.

One very important guest was barbecue chef Chris Lilly from Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q in Decatur, Alabama who was on hand to ply the hungry crowd with his special brand of smoke. The pair of chefs met at the South Beach Food and Wine Festival two years ago and hit it off immediately.       Continue reading →

When Lisa Moore and Gary Jackson, both of FLUENT announced a fundraiser for long time restaurant GM Camilo Calderon who has been in the industry for many years, the community gathered. Each week we scour the city in search of the very best Dallas has to offer. We check into restaurants both old and new looking for interesting food to discuss with you so you can make handy decision when dining out.

Alamo Drafthouse Is Coming To Dallas And We Have Details

by Steven Doyle

We have been duly warned that the Austin based movie theater chain, Alamo Drafthouse, is coming to the Dallas area soon. Soon is more like April or May of 2013, but we have plenty to celebrate as we count down the months to its arrival.

Look for plenty of locations in and around Dallas with the first site to be in Richardson on the southwest corner of Belt Line Road in the old Pep Boys location in the Richardson Heights Shopping Center.  The shopping center is predominately occupied by Indian restaurants, grocers, clothing and gift shops, but that is how Alamo rolls. They prefer a very indigenous location that might need a boost of economic juju.     Continue reading →

Following The Taco Trail With José Ralat-Maldonado

by Steven Doyle

There is a man roaming the streets of Dallas with a mission. He is the undisputed king of tacos and is the editor of the Dallas Taco Trail. José Ralat-Maldonado is a fun loving aficionado of tacos and loves good craft beer and life in general. His positive outlook on life is infectious as his love for tacos.

I caught up with Jose just off the heels of a taco inspection at a local taqueria in Oak Cliff. The restaurant swore they had puffy tacos and were well worth inspection. Jose differs with their assessment and you are sure to read about the restaurant soon on his Taco Trail website.   Continue reading →

By Nicholas Bostick

This was my first experience with Quakecon (a convention based around Richardson based id Software’s “Quake” franchise), and as someone wisely pointed out, it probably won’t be my last. Quakecon, known for being “The largest LAN party in North America”, has been Continue reading →
