Cedars Social To Re-Open With Modern Mexican Menu

Sixteen years ago a young chef named Anastacia Quinones approached restaurateur Monica Greene looking to work at the famed Ciudad in Dallas, which at the time was Greene’s premier modern Mexican restaurant located in Dallas. It wasn’t necessarily a good fit then, but fast forward to this week and we find the couple have finally teamed up for something new in the Cedars Social space. The name will remain Cedar Social, but the cuisine will be all about modern Mexican.

“I have put together the dream team which includes Anastacia Quinones and Leann Berry, and business partner Frankie Jimenez,” Greene told us today. Continue reading

A Variety Of Dumplings In Dallas

Dumplings are simply cooked dough. Each culture has their own version and they can be steamed, poached, boiled, baked or fried. When thinking dumpling, many will immediately gear towards the Asian cultures with their plentiful varieties, but there are so many more representations of the dumpling and most are available in Dallas.

When looking for the perfect dumpling look no further than a pierogi, the boiled or baked dish with Central European roots can be filled with meat, cheese, fruit and even sauerkraut. A popular filling in the United States is the venerable potato.  Continue reading

2017 Restaurant Week Results

The delicious results are in for last summer’s big 20th Anniversary DFW Restaurant Week. The August 2017 campaign raised nearly $796,000 for its charity partners the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) and Lena Pope. This represents DFW Restaurant Week’s top annual fundraising to date, thanks to the diners, restaurants and sponsors who loyally enjoyed 20+ days of dining out and doing good for the community. The campaign is gratefully recognizing top restaurants for their exemplary fundraising and participation with the announcement of its 20th Anniversary DFW Restaurant Week Star Restaurant Awards.  Continue reading

Shell Shack Opening in Denton Spring 2018

Shell Shack opened its first location in Uptown Dallas in late 2013. Fast forward a few short years, and the popular seafood spot known for its perfectly-seasoned crabs is getting ready to open its sixth DFW location. Joining the Uptown original, as well as stores in Plano, Arlington and Mesquite—and soon Ft Worth—the new location is landing in Denton near Golden Triangle Mall. Crews have already broken ground, and Shell Shack Denton is expected to open in the spring of this year. Continue reading

The Sweet Tooth Hotel Makes Its Way To Dallas May 18 – June 30

With fantastical desserts and surprises behind every door, Sweet Tooth Hotel brings together work by some of Dallas’s most innovative artists and a curated selection of products and sweets to purchase in The Gift Shoppe. The Sweet Tooth Hotel is a 1,200 sq. ft. experiential art and retail pop up in Dallas, and will be open from May 18 to June 30 in Dallas’s Victory Park.

Concepted by husband and wife, Cole and Jencey Keeton, Sweet Tooth Hotel delivers five sugar-themed rooms based on popular treats. Each room will be thoughtfully and artistically created by Built By Bender, a design and fabrication shop whose roster includes a variety of clients from Legacy Hall and most recently a giant interactive sculpture installed for the City of Plano in their downtown historical district.
