Winston’s Prime Time Hollywood

by Steven Doyle

Tuesday I stopped in at Winston’s Supper Club to check out the Prime Time Hollywood event and was pleased to see the club has taken its own path in the night club scene in Dallas. There was plenty of action as the night moved from one aspect of the event to another including a presentation from the ever outrageous chef Otto Borsisch from season two of Top Chef, to Sharon Hodges of the Hilton Anatole’s Fashion’s Living Canvas premiere runway show as she transformed a live model into a work of art.            Continue reading →

Kibble & Cocktails: Eating And Drinking To Help Rescue Dogs

by Steven Lindsey

Dallas is a city that loves to give back. And with that generosity of spirit comes an abundance of fundraising events, from elaborate black-tie galas to simple tastings in the back rooms of art galleries.

Next Tuesday, there’s a fantastic fundraiser that falls somewhere in between: Kibble & Cocktails. The brainchild of Lisa Jones at Barking Hound Village, a luxury day care and overnight hotel for the canine set, Kibble & Cocktails is a food-and-cocktail event to raise awareness and funds for DFW Rescue Me, a true no-kill, last-chance rescue organization. To date, they have helped find permanent homes for 487 loveable pooches.                 Continue reading →

Benefit For Andrew Lostetter

by Crave Staff

Andrew Lostetter has been a bartender in the Dallas area for over fourteen years; he has grown as a barmen moving from Consilient (Fireside Pies on Henderson and Sense) to join the team at Neighborhood Services Tavern, then on to The Marquee Grill in Highland Park Village. Andrew has been on the forefront of the cocktail movement in Dallas and has frequently been seen shaking cocktails for various charities around Dallas, including Bar 828 in Oak Cliff, and the HID IN pop-up bar that had a brief stint in Deep Ellum.

Recently Andrew experienced an epic ski accident that left him with a fractured pelvis in four places, dislocated sacrum from his pelvis and fractured two of his vertebrae.  Two surgeries later Andrew is back in Dallas undergoing further treatment.    Continue reading →

First Look: Driftwood

by Steven Doyle

We  were given a first look at the new Oak Cliff restaurant Driftwood  just next door to Bolsa Mercado at 642 West Davis, in what was previous a dark Con Fusion, now owned by Jonn Baudoin. Baudoin graduated with an Industrial Design degree from the University of South Louisiana in Lafayette and has worked at many top restaurants in Dallas as General Manger including Dallas Fish Market, Nicola, Nikita, Salve and Mi Piaci.

The general theme of the menu is seafood and the restaurant’s overall feel, which was designed by Daniela Baudoin’s company Vision 360 Design, is brightened by sea-foam and cool woods, and sports a beautiful patio.     Continue reading →

New Menu At Bolsa Starts Today

by Steven Doyle

Today is certainly a Good Friday. Many of you are off from work and enjoying this beautiful day, spending time with family and friends.  I am personally invigorated by the freshness of Spring, and have the perfect spot for you to celebrate today.  Last night I was given a sneak preview to the Bolsa new menu and it is nothing short of breath taking.

Chef Jeff Harris has really shined on this new menu, taking advantage of all the new Spring vegetables provided him by our local farmers like Tom Spicer and Eden Creek Farms. We are actually planning a full on report for Monday morning, but we managed a few snapshots last night and wanted to give you fuel to run out to the Oak Cliff restaurant.  If you have managed to avoid the place this long, perhaps it is time to check out Bolsa and what chef Harris is creating along with his exec-sous Matt Balke.                 Continue reading →
