Hibiscus Chamomile- A Flowery Transfusion Like No Other

cocktailby Mary Szefcyk

There truly is an art form to craft of hand Spirits and the Dallas Cocktail Culture scene is up and coming.  We are fortunate to have so many adventurous places that showcase original cocktails. It’s not just a mere drink its character in a glass that needs to make a statement and should not be taken for granted. It was charming to find such a unique blend on my recent night out jaunt.  I had the pleasure of letting down my hair taking in Urban art and live music performed by a local band (We’ve Come For Your Daughter) a hip hop/synth pop group releasing my inner-punk while frolicking with friends and making new ones near and behind the bar.   Continue reading

wonkaby Steven Doyle

Procrastination is the hearts worst enemy so it would seem. Looking for that last minute Valentine’s gift option could prove difficult, but many of the area chocolatiers have stocked up and are bracing themselves for one of their busiest days of the year. We have a guide that will help you geographically snag that perfect box of chocolates that should keep you looking like a charmer that you really are.

Jayne Embraces Her Inner-Foodie

foodie1by Jayne Chobot

Foodie is not a word that I enjoy or use to call myself. I do like food, a lot, and after years of working in hospitality and with a healthy dose of curiosity, I know quite a bit about it. I even cook it. But really I’m just a very passionate and sensual person, enjoying all senses with equal vigor. A great meal in my book satisfies all of them; it’s beautifully presented, obviously it smells and tastes good, and it’s enjoyed while surrounded with good company. Continue reading

Dosa Truck Hitting Dallas Streets This Week (It’s Vegan And Very Delicious)

dosaby Steven Doyle

There’s a new food truck in town and it is owned by the people who brought the first Indo-Chinese food truck to the DFW area, Bombay Street Food, and we have an exclusive first look at the menu. The truck will be serving 100% vegan dosas and is hitting the streets starting Thursday evening at the Sprouts on Henderson near Ross Ave. You may also find the truck Friday at the Toys for Tots food truck rally in Deep Ellum which you can find at Gaston and Elm streets.

A dosa is a versatile Southern Indian street food that is prepared with a crepe-like shell made of rice and lentils, and filled with ingredients that can be served with varying spice levels. This makes for an interesting and practical offering for a food truck, and one that fills a niche the Dallas area desperately needed.   Continue reading

A Fall Menu To Be Thankful For: Dragonfly

by Melissa Robert

As November draws to a close we have heard the many beautiful and heartwarming things that our friends and family are thankful for. Personally, I’m thankful for an amazing fall menu. The particular Dallas restaurant that has given me this attitude of gratitude is none other than Dragonfly inside the Hotel ZaZa. The Fall 2012 menu, which was introduced approximately 2 weeks ago, is filled with flavorful and elegant dishes that we have come to expect from Executive Chef Dan Landsberg. Landsberg, who made a name for himself at Tillman’s Roadhouse and Stephan Pyles Restaurant, has been with Hotel ZaZa since February of last year.    Continue reading
