Earlier this week we got a quote from chef Richard Chamberlain saying he was going to New York City to win a little grilling contest, competing with regional winners from across the country and sponsored by Kingsford. Well, he did. Welcome back chef Richard Chamberlain and his giant Texas-sized check. Continue reading

If you are a bartender in Dallas, Texas and can’t make a decent margarita perhaps it is time to select another industry. Pop-Up Angel’s Envy Mint Julep Competition At The Dram
by Steven Doyle photos by Robert Bostick
The bartenders at The Dram were surprised when they showed up for a last minute staff meeting only to find Trina Nishimura waiting for them with a box of crazy ingredients. You know Trina from Cedars Social where she bartends and makes some pretty fantastic cocktails. Now Trina is the Dallas representative for the smooth and boozy Angel’s Envy, a divine small batch Kentucky whiskey. Angel’s Envy uses the unique process of finishing their bourbon in port wine barrels. Designed by Lincoln Henderson, the former Brown Forman master distiller and creator of Woodford Reserve, Angel’s Envy is the culmination of over 40 years experience in the distilling industry.
As the four bartenders wandered into their office they found unusual ingredients. “We have caper berries, cocoa nibs, and all sorts of sodas and syrups,” said Trina yesterday afternoon. Continue reading

Chefs Rodman Shields from Nick & Sam’s and Richard Chamberlain from Chamberlain’s Steak and Chop House will compete Saturday, April 28 at the Walmart located at 1521 N. Cockrell Hill Rd. Chefs On Fire This Weekend
Picture this if you will. Twenty teams of chefs, each paired with a local fire fighter in a battle to ferret out the very best grill master. These chefs are talented and the firefighters can blaze in a kitchen as well. The two-man (and women) teams will compete in the day-long competition for a chance to win $1,000, and will undergo a trial by fire in this elimination match. All the proceeds for the event raises cash and awareness for the Parkland Burn Unit in Dallas.
This year’s Chefs on Fire has a few new items on the agenda including a celebrity chef round where they are paired with fire chiefs. The chefs on chiefs include Randall Copeland from Restaurant Ava, Samir Dhurandhar from Nick & Sam’s, Graham Dodd from Central 214 and John Tesar from the upcoming Spoon restaurant. Continue reading
