At Burgers + Burgundy, chefs offer samples of their signature burgers and pair them with wines of their choices. Each year, Burgers + Burgundy has a theme, and this year’s was Feather Fete. Attendees arrived to Klyde Warren in their most fabulous feathered attire.

This year’s Burgers + Burgundy was hosted by chef John Tesar (Knife) and Terri Provencal, publisher and editor in chief of Patron Magazine. Tesar sampled his signature Ozersky burger and paired with a lovely bugundy. Continue reading →

A Week of Celebration Honoring Texas Chicken Fried Steak Day

cfs jesusby Steven Doyle

We are in celebration mode this week as we seek out the very best Chicken Fried Steaks in the DFW area and around the state of Texas. It is research that is heartfelt, and I am sure our system is feeling all the fried beef we have consumed for the large list we will present last in the week as we pay homage to Texas Chicken Fried Steak Day.

Chicken-fried steak is a dish in which a cut of beef, usually thin and selected from the round, is breaded and fried. (Occasionally, some restaurants have also cooked a cut of pork.) The method of preparation is similar to that of fried chicken, which explains the name. The Texas staple is most often served with mashed potatoes and covered with cream gravy. Continue reading →

Rogersville+Storm+Damage+VO.jpg

Ariana Hajibashi sent this note to me with a bit of relief for the  Dallas tornado victims. Ariana has a per firm that works with restaurants, so see this fireball if your company needs help with  public relations – she can help.

She  has two clients willing to help those in need so far, but I felt it prudent to run the list as is, we can add later. If your restaurant has a deal for victims, send me a note at Steven@cravedfw.com Continue reading →

The exact origin of macaroni and cheese is unknown, though it most likely hails from Northern Europe, with the earliest known recorded recipe being scribbled down in 1769. A staple of American cuisine, the creamy combo made its way to the United States courtesy of Thomas Jefferson, who, while visiting France, became enamored of fashionable pasta dishes served there. He brought back noodle recipes and a pasta machine, since this foodstuff was unavailable in the Colonies. As president, he served macaroni and cheese at an 1802 state dinner. Continue reading →
