Brunch At Dish

dishby Steven Doyle

Brunch is a high priority in Dallas and with so many options for the mid-day weekend activity it is important you make the right selection of restaurant, and more so, the right dish. That is why we set our sites on Dish this weekend. Chef Garreth Dickey has quietly been plating some special brunch items, and he couldn’t possibly think we wouldn’t take notice.

Dish might be more famously known for its drag brunch. The restaurant turns its tables three times during the last weekend hurray drag-fest, and it is not just the friendly gayborhood patrol in for a looksee; this brunch attracts a full range of people looking for a fabulous Sunday Funday.    Continue reading

Midnight Ramen Redux At Ten Bells This Saturday

ramen1by Steven Doyle

Ramen is the hot new topic on the lips of local food types. It is the perfect food with house-made noodles, a rich steamy broth, meaty pork belly and hopefully a wonderful poached egg. Just a few weeks back local chef from Lucia, Justin Holt, hosted two nights of ramen at  a few Oak Cliff night spots. I just received a text from the chef saying he is pumped about another night of ramen at Ten Bells Tavern this Saturday night, March 9, 2013.   Continue reading

Want to Stay Active in Your Art Community?

artistby Erica Guajardo

As an artist, one of the hardest things to do is get your artwork viewed by the public.  It seems that there is much anxiety associated with “Where and How to start?”  As a fellow artist myself, I found that it took someone inviting me to join a group of locals in order to  get established.  Although this seems like a simple idea, not all creative individuals know someone that is willing to show us the way.

Recently I was searching through the Facebook Group Page Dallas Art Openings, a group designed to announce art shows that are taking place around Dallas.   During this search I found an individual posting “…I’ve come to find myself wanting to join an art career…How could I start myself?”  This awakened a self-guided principle idea to help share with inspiring artists a way for them to get active and help grow their talents.  Below you will find three art groups, which are FREE to join and stay active in the arts.     Continue reading

Hibiscus Chamomile- A Flowery Transfusion Like No Other

cocktailby Mary Szefcyk

There truly is an art form to craft of hand Spirits and the Dallas Cocktail Culture scene is up and coming.  We are fortunate to have so many adventurous places that showcase original cocktails. It’s not just a mere drink its character in a glass that needs to make a statement and should not be taken for granted. It was charming to find such a unique blend on my recent night out jaunt.  I had the pleasure of letting down my hair taking in Urban art and live music performed by a local band (We’ve Come For Your Daughter) a hip hop/synth pop group releasing my inner-punk while frolicking with friends and making new ones near and behind the bar.   Continue reading
